As we continue our journey towards self-governance and advancing Métis rights, we must remember the law is just one more tool we can use to advance our Nation. The first and best tool we have as Métis people, will always be our ability to organize and work together.
This week's MNC AGM marked a period of change and the need for further reform. Our top priority will always be Métis Citizens in Alberta, and our Citizens' Council expects Alberta's role as a founding member of the MNC to be respected as we work together on reforms. We are ready to help shape an MNC that better serves the unique needs of all Métis governments.

Louis Riel Walk
It was a cold November day when Louis Riel was executed for the crimes of high treason. He fought for the rights of the Métis people and paid the ultimate price for his efforts. We honour his legacy every year during Métis Week, and we start this week off by walking the 6km his family and loved ones walked to bring his body to Saint Boniface Cathedral in Manitoba.
Join us November 10, at 9:30 a.m. for the Louis Riel Commemorative Walk to honour the courage and sacrifices of Louis Riel and his soldiers.

On November 16, 1885 Louis Riel was executed for standing up for our rights as Métis people. Every year we host Métis week to commemorate and honour his legacy. Join us as we gather together at the Alberta Legislature on November 16 to remember Louis Riel and the profound impact he had on Métis culture.

- Métis youth (aged 15 – 25) in Alberta, with or without an FASD diagnosis

A Fecal Immunochemical Test (FIT), or poop test, can help identify abnormal cells early. Anyone between the ages of 50 and 74 is advised to have a FIT, or poop test, every year.
A colonoscopy is a specialized screening test that is recommended if you have a personal or family cancer history, or if an abnormality is detected.
You may need to begin cancer screening earlier than the recommended age guidelines depending on your personal or family cancer history. Talk to your family doctor about cancer screening to determine what is right for you.
