NNWO Accomplishments for Fiscal Year 2025 Quarter 4


NNWO would like to share some of our accomplishments from July to September, including the reauthorization of the Radiation Exposure Compensation Act, an exemption for tribal members from the new work requirements for Medicaid and SNAP recipients, and more.


NNWO Advocates for the Parity for Tribal Law Enforcement Act


NNWO is continuing to advocate for the Parity for Tribal Law Enforcement Act (H.R. 4712/S. 2452). Our advocacy work has brought on seven additional members of Congress as co-sponsors.


Historic NRC Approval Paves Way for Innovative Uranium Mine Cleanup on Navajo Nation Lands


The U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission granted the first-ever Service Provider License to DISA Technologies, Inc. This license authorizes the company to remediate abandoned uranium mine waste across the western United States.

Navajo WIC Services Restored as Federal Government Shutdown Continues


This week, Women, Infants, and Children (WIC) services on the Navajo Nation were restored. As of Wednesday, vendors are again accepting benefits and families are receiving direct resources and nutrition services.




Honoring Indigenous Peoples' Day


On Monday, October 13, Native communities across the country will join together to celebrate Indigenous Peoples' Day. Indian Country schools and Native organizations have embraced the spirit of the day by hosting educational events, cultural performances, and youth discussions about what it means to be Indigenous in the modern world.

Government Shutdown Resource List


On Wednesday, October 1, the United States Federal Government went into shutdown as Congress could not come to an agreement to pass a federal budget or continuing resolution. Because the Government Shutdown affects everyone, NNWO has compiled a Resource Guide for all those affected.
