Navajo Code Talker John Kinsel, Sr. passed away at his home on Saturday at 107 years old. As a member of the second group of Code Talkers, he was assigned to the Ninth Marine Regiment, Third Marine Division where he worked to expand the "unbreakable code."

Tribal Consultation on Opportunities and Access to Registered Apprenticeship and for Competitive Grants
The tribal consultation, convened by DOL's Employment and Training Administration, will discuss opportunities and access to registered apprenticeship programs for Tribal Nations and ETA grants.
The consultation will be held on Monday, November 18, 2024.

Proposed Rule: Entities Wholly Owned by Indian Tribal Governments
This document contains proposed regulations regarding the Federal tax classification of entities wholly owned by Indian Tribal governments (Tribes). The proposed regulations would provide that entities that are wholly owned by Tribes and organized or incorporated exclusively under the laws of the Tribes that own them generally are not recognized as separate entities for Federal tax purposes. Comments must be received by January 7, 2025.

Legal Services for Veterans-Legal Assistance for Access to VA Programs Grant Program
The Department of Veterans Affairs proposes to amend its regulations to implement a new authority requiring VA to establish or enhance a pilot program to assess the feasibility of awarding grants to eligible entities to establish new legal assistance clinics and pro bono efforts to provide certain legal assistance to veterans. Comments must be received by December 2, 2024.
