A glimpse into our office's week

President Nygren Meets with Secretary Linda McMahon and Senior Leadership


On September 10, 2025 President Nygren met with U.S. Secretary of Education Linda McMahon and her staff. President Nygren discussed the importance of the federal government's treaty and trust responsibilities to the Navajo Nation, especially in the area of education. Some other topics of discussion included continued support for language preservation, ongoing funding for Titles I-IV programs, and Pell Grant eligibility. President Nygren extended a personal invitation to Secretary McMahon and the Department's senior leadership to visit the Navajo Nation, where they can see firsthand the resilience of Navajo students, the dedication of teachers, and the need for an increase in the building maintenance fund.

Full Committee Markup of FY2026 Labor, Health and Human Services, Education, and Related Agencies Bill


The House Committee on Appropriations met to do a full committee markup of the FY2026 labor, Health and Human Services, Education, and Related Agencies bill. The bill's discretionary allocation is $184.5 billion, a 7% reduction from FY2025 levels.


Navajo Nation Crowns Camille Uentillie as 73rd Miss Navajo Nation


Camille Utentillie of Kinlichee, Arizona was crowned the 73rd Miss Navajo nation at the Navajo Nation Fair in Window Rock, Arizona this past week. Her platform centers on the bond between families, language, and her passion for the land.
