Indigenous Advocates Call on Speaker Johnson to Pass RECA


This week, more than 50 advocate from across the Southwest visited Washington to keep the pressure on the House and Speaker Johnson to pass Senate bill 3853, the Radiation Exposure Compensation Reauthorization Act. President Nygren and Speaker Curley marched with the advocates from NNWO to the US Capitol, where they were joined by numerous Congressional members for a press conference.

Ahead of the RECA events on Tuesday, President Nygren met with Secretary Mayorkas, who leads the Department of Homeland Security, to discuss MMIP challenges, the burdensome REAL ID regulation and their implications on tribal sovereignty, amongst other issues.
