House Subcommittee Advances Funding Bill with Key Programs for Navajo Nation Included
On Tuesday, the House Subcommittee on Labor, Health, Human Services, Education and Related Agencies held a hearing with the purpose of marking up the Labor, Health, Human Services, Education and Related Agencies Bill. The bill contains a $10 million increase on funding for the Low-Income Home Energy Assistance Program, as well as a $6 million increase for programs under the Community Services Block Grant Act.

Economic Relief and Recovery Efforts Continue in Wake of Dragon Bravo Fire
The U.S. Small Business Administration has declared an Economic Injury Disaster for Arizona following the Dragon Bravo Fire and the White Sage Fire. This declaration opens up low-interest Economic Injury Disaster Loans for small businesses, agricultural cooperatives, and non profit organizations in Coconino County and surrounding impacted counties in Arizona and Utah.

Naa'bik'iyati Committee Votes to Confirm NNWO Executive Director
On Friday, August 29, 2025, the Navajo Nation Naa'bik'iyati' Committee voted to confirm Vincent Redhouse as the Director of the Navajo Nation Washington Office. Honorable Council Delegate Curtis Yanito, who sponsored Mr. Redhouse's confirmation legislation, praised Mr. Redhouse's extensive experience in American Indian Policy. The confirmation advances to the full Navajo Nation Council, and is expected to be on the agenda for the Fall Navajo Nation Council Session.

Applications for Radiation Exposure Compensation Act claims forms for uranium workers, downwinders, onsite participants, and Manhattan Project waste victims are now available. Do not pay for filing assistance. The Navajo Nation has free resources that can assist you in filing your claims. Be aware of scammers and predatory attorneys or healthcare groups claiming to assist you in exchange for a portion of your compensation.

Funding Available to Start Robotics Team
FIRST Tech Challenge teams design, build, program, and operate robots to compete in head-to-head challenges. Students, grades 7-12, develop STEM skills and practice engineering principles while working as a team. Sponsored by FIRST and the Navajo Transitional Energy Company, funding is available to start robotics teams for the 2025/2026 season.
