Freshman Family Newsletter
March 2019
Dear Class of 2022 Families,

Spring semester is now in full swing, and spring is right around the corner.  From March 2 through March 10  our students will enjoy a well-deserved spring break, where they can take time to relax and enjoy some time off before jumping into the final leg of the semester!

William & Mary is gearing up to host its sixth annual giving day—One Tribe One Day   on Tuesday, April 16! Through this annual tradition, parents and families join current students, alumni, faculty, staff, and friends to make gifts to any area of the university. Parents and families are a key part of our Tribe, and our active participation in the day’s events will help to ensure the university’s success—and that of our students. Last year, more than 2,600 parents made a gift on One Tribe One Day, contributing to nearly $2.5 million raised in a single day. It’s never too early to start planning how you can make an impact!

We hope that this newsletter is valuable and finds you well. And as always, if you have any questions, please don't hesitate to reach out!

Lafayette Kids Organization

Lafayette Kids is a student-led tutoring and mentoring program working out of the Office of Community Engagement. Overseen by the Education Programs staff, Lafayette Kids connects W&M students with youth residents of a local subsidized housing community. W&M student volunteers, also known as “Bigs,” provide after-school homework help and hands-on learning opportunities during the week as well as organize weekend outings to destinations in and around Williamsburg with the youth, also known as “Littles.” While our program requires a strong commitment from our Bigs, the interactions, growth, and friendships made between the Littles and other Bigs are lasting and rewarding.

Gifts to any area of the university count as we track our progress toward 34% parent participation, and gifts of every size make a difference. You can help impact the programs and resources that have been transformational for your student. Would you consider a gift of $20.22 in honor of your W&M freshman and the Class of 2022?
