The Cowley County Chapter of Women for Kansas is happy to share the recent Virtual Chapter Zoom presentation of Sunday, August 10th "Exploring the Clean Energy Future in Kansas and Beyond" with Dorothy Barnett, Executive Director of the statewide nonprofit Climate + Energy Project in Hutchinson with our September 13th group beginning at 10 a.m. at the Winfield City Hall Community Room, 200 E. 9th Ave., Winfield.

New attacks to clean energy’s future are happening almost daily, impacting the Kansas utility industry. Dorothy Barnett, Climate + Energy Project Executive Director, will offer insights about what our shared clean energy future looks like under a Trump presidency and what Kansans can do to fight back.

Leading the effort to address the Heartland’s energy future, Barnett has coordinated winning campaigns to protect the Kansas Renewable Portfolio Standard from special interest groups’ attacks during four legislative sessions, allowing the wind industry to grow to 40% of the state’s power generation in just a decade.

Barnett frequently speaks to a national audience on a range of clean energy topics, including MSNBC’s Rachel Maddow’s show

and a presentation at Yale for a public forum. Barnett provides expert testimony at regulatory proceedings and has been published in the Electricity Journal.

In 2014 she received the Advocacy Leadership Award from

the U.S. Clean Energy, Education and Empowerment (C3E) program, run by the U.S. Department of Energy and the

MIT Energy Initiative.

With the increased examples of climate change being seen throughout our nation and the world, this message by

Dorothy Barnett is critical and necessary to each of us,

our families and friends.
