The Wichita Area Chapter of Women for Kansas welcomes
Ian Campbell and a presentation titled "How Neighboring Overcomes Civic Divides", Saturday, August 23, 10 a.m.,
Pine Valley Christian Church, 5620 E 21st St., Wichita.
The Neighboring Movement is a local nonprofit dedicated to cultivating a vibrant culture of abundance. They recognize and celebrate the unique skills and gifts within our communities, helping everyone connect and uplift one another. It’s a simple yet powerful idea.
“The connections among local people are what awaken the power of families and neighborhoods to weave the social fabric of an abundant community.” John McKnight, Co-founder Asset-Based Community Development Institute.
The founding neighborhood is the South Central neighborhood in Wichita, KS, commonly referred to as SoCe (SO-SEE). The SoCe neighborhood boundaries are from Kellogg south to Pawnee and Washington west to the Arkansas River. The offices are located in the heart of SoCe where they work to rejuvenate the neighborhood through various initiatives, including property development and neighborhood support. Part of their work includes voter education--the importance of voting and voter registration.
Ian Campbell is a Wichita transplant from Texas, and is proud to call the Riverside neighborhood home. He is the product of an incredibly caring childhood block with a strong neighboring culture, and it is his call to help others experience the same abundance. Before joining the Neighboring Movement staff, he trained individuals and churches on practical neighboring, and in his free time, he works as a "civil diplomat" connecting large-scale neighboring movements across the world. He lives with his wife, Rachel, their baby boy, and two quirky pets. Learn more about The Neighboring Movement by visiting neighboringmovement.org.
