´╗┐Compulsory Vaccination of Staff

The Western Australia Premier announced today that a raft of industries will require their staff to be vaccinated. The Summary document issued by the Government can be found here.

Whilst the legislation to support this has not as yet been released the summary document indicates that accommodation providers will be required to have their staff fully vaccinated by January 31st, 2022, with first doses having been received of the vaccine by December 31, 2021.

It would therefore be reasonable to assume that CVA members would fall into this category and thus will require their staff to be vaccinated by these dates. 

Experience in other jurisdictions, notable Victoria where a vaccine mandate exists for numerous industries, is that after these dates, unvaccinated staff can now longer attend the premises. Again, the legislation has not been released, so we can only surmise at this stage.

It should be noted that the definition of a workers has typically included volunteers. Thus, volunteers on ministry camps, unpaid caretakers, etc would also likely fall under this requirement.

When the legislation is released we will be able to provide clearly guidance.
