Million Air Hosts Sold Out NBAA Conference
|
A brief afternoon shower failed to douse the spirits of thousands of business aviation professionals at the 2023 National Business Aviation Association, NBAA, White Plains Regional Forum at New York’s Westchester County Airport (HPN), as attendance topped last year’s total and raised enthusiasm at the event to new heights.
“We really believe in being a great citizen, neighbor, and friend of our communities, and we are grateful that we have these opportunities to showcase Westchester County in front of thousands of guests,” Million Air's general manager at Westchester, Lauren Rones-Payne, told the Westchester & Fairfield County Business Journals
“The value of these forums just can’t be understated,” said Dina Green, NBAA vice president of events. “With 180 indoor exhibits, the show floor was sold out. We had nearly 3,000 industry people in one place where they could see 26 new aircraft while networking and meeting with customers in person.”
The day saw a constant flow of attendees moving throughout the aisles. “The crowd definitely looked stronger than last year,” said Louis Seno, chairman emeritus at Jet Support Services Inc. told NBAA, “I’m hearing people talk about how they’re looking at new aircraft acquisitions. They’re wanting to take action and make decisions.”
The Westchester Aviation Association joined forces this year with our fellow Northeast Local Regional Groups, at this years NBAA White Plains Regional Forum. We want to thank everyone who came by to learn more about the region and how to get more involved.
We would also like to thank Brittany Davies, The NBAA, KHPN, and Million Air for hosting a very successful regional forum.

Turtles Fly Too! Needs Your Help
Turtles Fly Too! is on a mission to help an endangered Kemp's ridley sea turtle, named Tally, return from Wales to the United States, so they can transport Tally to the final destination Houston, Texas.
The CITES permit expires July 15, and transport needs to be accomplished by that time frame.
Against all odds, a tropical sea turtle (Kemps Ridley) that belongs in the Gulf of Mexico, somehow managed to swim across the Atlantic and wash ashore barely alive in Wales, UK. A facility there has been working hard for several years to rehab this turtle, named Tally, getting it ready for release.
There’s been quite a bit of press coverage on Tally and a lot more to come as the BBC wants to share this mission with the world as a public interest story https://www.bbc.com/news/uk-59579787
Tally also has been depicted in several children's books, and is quite the celebrity.
The Royal Air Force is supporting this mission by allowing the refuel of the aircraft at costs along with eliminating any fees associated.
Tally's red crate, pictured, weights about 40lbs and involves no water to transport.
If interested there is all sorts of PR that can be accomplished including participating in the release itself. Without question this is an opportunity of a lifetime to be part of efforts to save an endangered species from Extinction.
Any questions please reach out to Jennifer Kempsey ED@WestchesterAviation.org or reach out directly to Leslie at Turtles Fly Too, 208-484-7774, email Leslie@turtlesflytoo.org

Airport Operations Update
|
|
The Airport Operations Portal has been updated with a new layout and more comprehensive material. The portal contains loads of information for not only Westchester County Airport Operations personnel but anyone who uses the field. Here you will find aircraft familiarization charts and PowerPoints for private and commercial aircraft, driver training material, Aircraft Rescue and Fire Fighting (ARFF) resources and airport certification training. There is a particularly helpful page of links to NOTAMS, the National Airspace System Status page and the major weather and flight tracking sites.
The Veoci Tenant Dashboard has also been updated with additional information. Here you will find runway conditions, airfield advisories, weather reporting, NOTAMS, form to Request a PPR, and a Snow and Ice section.

|
A big thanks to Airport Operations Supervisor, David Montiverdi for sharing these resources with us. You will want to bookmark these pages!

Work has begun on the Airport Fuel Farm Oil Water Separator (OWS) Replacement Project. An 8,000 gallon OWS will be removed and provisions made for a new 10,000 gallon OWS. This will provide environmental protection between the fuel farm off-loading stations and Blind Brook. Heavy excavation equipment and construction personnel will be working near the Traffic Circle at the Main Terminal entrance so please use caution here.
