We kicked off the series with SESSION 1: ACQUISITION on October 18 and viewers heard valuable content from two subject matter experts:  Neil Schwartz, President of Latitude Aviation and Lewis Liebert, CEO of Performance Flight.  

Scott Dyer moderated the session and topics covered were aircraft selection based on your mission, budget considerations, collecting data points, financing, selecting a maintenance facility for the inspection, log book review, location of the closing and much more.

Westchester County Airport Operations Manager John Starace reviewed the Snow and Ice Control Plan and the plan for clearing both the airfield and landslide areas at the Annual Winter Operations Meeting for the 2021-2022 season.

Airport Bulletin #21-34 on Airport Security Badging Information outlines changes to the procedure for obtaining or renewing an airport security badge.

Work commenced on the Rehabilitation of Taxiway Lima between Runway 11/29 and Taxiway Charlie Project. It will be conducted in 3 Phases with expected completion by January 2022. Construction crews and heavy equipment will be operating inside the barricades during designated times.

This is an exciting opportunity for pilots to use their unique skills to contribute to the safety and security of ports, waterways and coastal regions. Highly skilled and competent aviators are vital to support safe and effective execution of Coast Guard and CG Auxiliary missions.

The Westchester County NY Chapter of Women in Aviation International (WAI) held its first Girls in Aviation Day on September 25, 2021 on the airport grounds. Forty five girls attended the program designed to introduce aviation careers to girls at a young age.

Presentations were made by Tradewind Aviation pilots Lisa Mannina and Eran Artigues, Flight Attendant Tracey Leneski, HPN Airport Operations Team David Montiverdi, Emily Enoch and Antonio and HPN Air Traffic Controllers Demisha Vega, Jane Little Cloud and Stacey Holt.

Students from WAI Vaughn College Chapter fielded insightful questions and Captain Jennifer

Moon representing the Civil Air Patrol Westchester Cadet Squadron introduced the cadet program where teens learn about flying, UAS/Drones, fitness & strength, search & rescue, camping and encourages leadership, team building and perseverance. White Plains Mayor Thomas Roach spoke about the importance and value of aviation to our local economy and declared September 25 as GIRLS IN AVIATION DAY in White Plains!

The highlight of the day was a private session for each girl in the Flight Simulator with Captain Jim Parker and Officer Ken Smith and climbing aboard the Aircraft Rescue and Fire Fighting (ARFF) truck and operating the controls.
