President's Letter

Dear Council Leaders, Friends, and Supporters:

I want to acknowledge the excellent efforts and guidance of this year's National Conference committee: Council leaders  Jim Falk (chair), Mimi Gregory, Noel Lateef, L.J. Stambuk, and WACA Chair Roman Popadiuk

The committee convenes weekly. We have  invited dozens of keynote speakers and panelists already, and we are under way with embassy receptions and think tank off-sites -- popular activities open to all attendees. Be sure to sign up for the early-bird registration discount on the America and Global Megatrends website, and visit often for agenda updates.

In addition, we have confirmed two special events for members of the 1918 Society: briefings and tours at the Pentagon and the CIA will take place Friday afternoon, November 18, from 2:00-5:00 PM. These will follow the Closing Luncheon Keynote.

The committee and I welcome your speaker recommendations, and we look forward to seeing you in DC in November!

Council of the Month: Columbus

The WACA National Office this month recognizes the Columbus Council on World Affairs  for their Global Fluency Training program. The Columbus Dispatch recently published a story spotlighting this program, its importance, and success.

Today's global economy demands that all employees are able to interact effectively with people from different cultural backgrounds. The Columbus Council's Global Fluency Training  program offers a comprehensive framework for understanding how cultures differ in order to ensure sustainable cross-cultural acumen and how to navigate successful, professional, cross-cultural interactions. The program serves as the region's premier training resource for cross-cultural competence for business professionals and executives. More than 300 professionals have rated the training as critical to their global business success.

We commend the Columbus Council on this program and on the publication of its 2016-2017 Global Report.

Councils and friends, be sure to submit your September nominee for Council of the Month to Lian Esehaki at [email protected].
