The World Affairs Councils of America is delighted to announce that the
Embassy of the State of Qatar in Washington, DC will sponsor a WACA Leadership Mission to Qatar,
October 11-17.
This WACA Leadership Mission will be comprised of a Qatar Embassy representative, WACA President and CEO Bill Clifford, and a minimum of 10 delegates from the Council network. Applicants are asked to submit their materials to the WACA National Office by email to

WAC San Antonio Hosts Future of Korea Program

|
The
World Affairs Council of San Antonio will kick-off the second half of WACA's
Engage America: Future of Korea grant series, sponsored by the
Korea Economic Institute. A panel discussion
Tuesday, August 27, will feature
Jihyun Lee, First Secretary at the Embassy of the Republic of Korea in the U.S.,
Jennifer Steffensen, Foreign Affairs Officer at the U.S. Department of State, and
Yong Kwon, Director of Communications at KEI, in conversation with former
Congressman Charlie Gonzalez regarding "The U.S.-Korea Relationship."

Council of the Month: WAC Kentucky and Southern Indiana
|
|
On the
first Tuesday of every month, the
World Affairs Council of Kentucky and Southern Indiana hosts
Global Trivia
at Gravely Brewing Co. to give area residents the opportunity to test their global knowledge! Each night consists of five rounds of questions from various categories including geography, music, history, and more. For only the cost of a beer, players' $5 donation supports the Council's educational programs for Kentucky and Southern Indiana residents and students.

Changing the World One Teacher at a Time

The
World Affairs Council of Charlotte announces the
2019-2020 Council Scholar Award Program, which awards
K-12 educators with a
$2,500
grant in recognition of their commitment to international education in the greater Charlotte region. Through this signature Council program, educators are given the opportunity to go abroad and participate in professional development conferences, teacher tours, language immersion courses, and other eligible international education opportunities of their choice.

Last Friday, August 23,
WACA President and CEO Bill Clifford visited the
Omaha World Affairs Council to give a talk on "
China's Belt and Road Initiative and Its Implications for International Relations." During his time in Omaha, Clifford toured the Gallup world headquarters and the Fred & Pamela Buffett Cancer Center while engaging in open dialogue with Omaha WAC members and staff.
