Jillian Haslam is a renowned speaker and has appeared at countless prestigious organizations, including the University of Cambridge, Bank of America, Bank of England, PwC, and more. She will join us to speak about her new book: A Voice Out of Poverty, on July 13 from 2:00 PM to 3:00 PM ET.

Jillian Haslam will discuss the intersection of poverty, race, and gender by recounting her childhood memories in the slums of Calcutta and the challenges her family experienced in overcoming diseases, malnutrition, and tragedy. Despite the hardships, she completed her education. She landed her first major employment as a personal assistant to the CEO at Bank of America in India. Haslam rose through the ranks and is now dedicated to addressing the root causes of poverty through her work.

Building a digital presence within your community is a big responsibility for any Council. Join us on Thursday, July 21 from 3:00 PM to 4:00 PM ET to learn how your World Affairs Councils can expand their digital community through engaging livestreams, strategic initiatives, and more!

The session will feature John Simpson, Digital Strategy Manager. For over 12 years, John has partnered with organizations to develop their digital communication strategies and guide complex outreach initiatives with measurable success. He leads the digital sales strategy for 2060 Digital DC, including WTOP News, Federal News Network, and Hubbard Broadcasting DC.

Claire Krelitz is the Communications Consultant for the Los Angeles World Affairs Council & Town Hall and served as their Communications Manager & Virtual Events Producer from 2020-2022. In this role, she strategically leveraged digital platforms to build program audiences, organizational capacity, and civic engagement among Angelenos and the Council’s international virtual audience. Before joining LAWACTH, she worked on two nationally ranked podcasts at Crooked Media.

The discussion will be moderated by Lisa Ellis, Executive Director of Global Santa Fe.
Global Santa Fe has returned to in-person cultural exchanges!

From March - May 2022, we welcomed 29 visitors from numerous countries including Spain, Uzbekistan, Sudan and Egypt. Most recently, we welcomed a group of 12 leaders from the Near East and North Africa as part of our International Visitor Leadership Program focused on the topic "Preserving Cultural Heritage and Combating Trafficking of Conflict Antiquities." Visitors connected with the New Mexico Department of Cultural Affairs, the Museum of Indian Arts and Culture, and Pecos National Historic Park, among other relevant groups and organizations.
