64th Annual Wisconsin Aviation Conference

The next Wisconsin Aviation Conference (WAC) is a couple months away and will  be held in Green Bay from May 5-7, 2019. Early registration ends on March 1, so don't delay! Attendee registration can be found  HERE

Speed dating with the FAA Chicago ADO will return this year, but space is limited so contact Bob O'Brien to get your time slot reserved. WAMA Legislative Day

WE NEED YOU  to come to Madison on March 28th and let our lawmakers know how important our airports are to the economic vitality of our State
This event is open to airports, airport board members, consultants, FBO's and anyone else involved in aviation in WI.

WAMA Legislative Day is a great opportunity to meet with your local lawmakers and inform them of all the great things going on at your airport. Are you starting a new airport project, hosting a fly-in, or seeing increased activity on your airfield?  Your airport supports the economy of your city, county, and the entire State of Wisconsin. 

This is a free event which includes a complimentary lunch. RSVP by March 22nd for lunch reservations HERE. Legislative Day attendees are welcome to attend the WAMA Board Meeting or WAC Committee Meeting prior to lunch.

Adjourn on your own when your meetings are complete.

Attendees will be responsible for scheduling meetings with respective legislators starting at 1:00 PM on March 28th. If your airport overlaps with another airport legislative district, consider scheduling meetings together, or reach out to consultants or other people who do business on your airport to join you in meetings!
  • To assist with determining who your legislators are, click HERE and fill in your address under the "Who Are My Legislators" box.
  • Let them know you are coming to Madison with your fellow airport managers to discuss the great things going on at your airport.
WAMA will provide a one page handout with State of Wisconsin economic activity and general talking points to help you get your conversations started.

AAAE ASOS School - Save the Date!

WAMA has coordinated with the American Association of Airport Executives to host an Advanced ASOS School, September 10-11, 2019. The Advanced ASOS school will be held at the Central Wisconsin Airport. This opportunity allows Wisconsin airports to get this important training while saving staff time and expensive travel costs by getting this training close to home. Only 20 seats are available to Wisconsin airports at a reduced rate, so watch your inbox for the upcoming registration opportunity!

WAMA Awards

The Wisconsin Airport Management Association is seeking nominations for the 2019 WAMA Aviation Awards . To nominate a person or project, submit via this online  Award Nomination Form (it's really easy!)

Your nomination must be submitted before
March 16, 2019 .  Award winners will be recognized at the 2019 Wisconsin Aviation Conference.

Nominees can be submitted for the following awards:  
  • Distinguished Service Award - Awarded to the persons who have made  an outstanding contribution to aviation.
  • Blue Light Award - Awarded to persons in the media who have distinguished themselves by their excellent reporting on Wisconsin Aviation.
  • Person of the Year Award - Awarded to persons who have distinguished themselves in Wisconsin Aviation during the past calendar year.
  • Lifetime Service Award - Awarded to persons who have devoted themselves to promoting and serving Wisconsin aviation for at least ten years.
  • Airport Engineering Award - Awarded to persons who have made significant professional contributions in the airport engineering or architecture fields in Wisconsin.
WAMA Scholarships

WAMA annually awards up to $2,000 in professional development scholarships to our members. You must be a member of the Wisconsin Airport Management Association and a resident of Wisconsin or an active duty service member with an entrance point in Wisconsin at the time the award is made. Candidates can receive reimbursement 12 months past an award date or 12 months prior to the next award date. Reimbursements will be awarded to members upon confirmation of successful completion of conference or training attendance.
WAMA also annually awards up to $2,000 in collegiate scholarships to students who meet the following requirem ents: Enrolled in a bachelors degree level Aviation Degree Program at an accredited college or university and plan to continue this pursuit in the following year OR enrolled in an associates degree or technical college program pursuing a degree in the aviation field and plan to continue this pursuit in the following year; a student that attends a Wisconsin college or university, a resident of the State of Wisconsin attending a college or university outside the State, or an active duty service member with an entrance point in Wisconsin at the time the award is made; applicants must be in at least their first (freshman) year of college at the time the application is submitted; applicants must have achieved academic proficiency (grade point average) at the time of the application of 2.5 or better (based on a 4.0 system); applicant must not have previously received the scholarship from the Wisconsin Airport Management Association; and applicants must complete all requested information on the scholarship application form.

Annual WAMA Membership Dues are now due. Please check your inboxes for related invoices. Note that your membership dues payment will activate the discounted registration opportunity for participating in the annual Conference scheduled for Green Bay.
