WARRIOR CHRONICLE
A summation of current events in the lives of GCS students and alumni. Join us in recognition of the Lord’s active work in and through the GCS family.
Winter 2020
Dear Friends: Advent Greetings!
The four-week focus on the incarnation of Jesus Christ during Advent is also a special time for Grace Christian School, as we finish the first half of the school year. Although COVID has restricted our operations and Christmas celebrations, we remain focused on our mission to provide our students with a Christ-centered education.

I asked Cherie Morel, our new ES/MS principal, why she and her husband brought their young daughter to GCS. This was her response: Continue reading here.
4th-6th VIRTUAL GRANDPARENTS DAY!
Dear Grandparents and Friends,

Much like the rest of 2020, our plans for the annual Grandparents Day celebration required a change of course from the norm. Our students and teachers embraced this with creativity, and we are so excited to share the finished product with you. Grandparents/Friends, you are deeply loved, valued, and honored by the GCS family. We are grateful for the many ways you love us, pray for us, provide for us, and share your wisdom with us. The rich legacy that you are instilling in your grandchildren will surely bring much glory to our Father in heaven and contribute greatly to the furtherance of His kingdom.

We wish you a VERY Merry Christmas and a blessed New Year!
END-OF-YEAR GIVING
GCS will always depend upon the faithful prayer and financial support of those who understand the power of a Christ-centered education in the life of a child.

Your generous gift to GCS makes a difference to every student. Thank you!
MAINTAINING PERSPECTIVE
What’s your perspective of 2020? If your perspective is synonymous with “dumpster fire,” you’re likely in good company. This year seems to have been characterized largely by fear and chaos. But fear and chaos are hardly the marks of Jesus’ followers.

What if 2020 is one of the best things that ever happened for the cause of Christ and His kingdom? Read this three-part blog series by Brian Fitzgerald, Discipleship Director. (Brian and Jenny Fitzgerald are GCS graduates, Class of '02, and the parents of three Warriors, Adelaide, Ezekiel, and Levi, and one future Warrior, Eliza.)
ADMINISTRATION DEDICATIONS
This year has certainly been a year of many changes. Here at Grace Christian Elementary and Middle School, we have seen changes in our administration. Both Joanne Kinder and Mary Ellen Barrett have retired after many years of service to our school. Our staff and the school board have honored them in several ways for their years of dedication to Grace. One such way is by dedicating plaques in their names to causes about which they are passionate.

LOVING OUR NEIGHBORS
PASS IT ON 2020 - We had to adjust this year's Pass It On project so as to be sensitive to the current situation. In the end, we had fun and were able to shift the focus from ourselves to our neighbors. COVID restictions have been isolating to many, thus we felt it was very important to step outside of our own building and circles this year. Along with their families, our students worked outside, cooked meals, and created care packages for other missions. They wrote to members of the older population and walked around the outside of retirement homes with signs, letting our most lonely know that they are loved. This project was merely a kickoff to a year of service!
WE ARE OPEN
You are invited to join us!
Are you interested in Christian education or know someone who is? We are OPEN for enrollment! We would like to meet with you and share why more families are choosing GCS: small classes, proven academics, a loving environment, a family atmosphere, and a Christ-centered education, just to name a few! Please email me, Maria Ralston, Admissions Director, at [email protected].
HAPPENINGS
Veterans Day was celebrated by the entire school, but especially the elementary school, which made the news for being the loudest cheering section
at a local parade.
When your junior year ended online, dances become out of the question, college visits go virtual, and the SAT and ACT are postponed, it's difficult to make the best of your senior year. Thankfully, the Class of 2021
is still finding ways to
make the most of it!
Congratulations to senior Richard Jones for scoring 1500 on the SAT! Richard is keeping his options open but is looking at a future in ministry and attending William and Mary next fall.
ATHLETICS
Through what seems like a never-ending journey of rules and regulations, we are up and running with winter sports. We pray that this season will run smoothly so that spring sports (as well as those typically played in the fall) can be played in the upcoming months.
Our middle school and varsity wrestling teams are practicing and have matches in January. Our middle school, JV, and varsity basketball teams have been practicing and are several games into their seasons.

Please join the GCS Athletics Facebook group here to watch games live!
