Tonight (Thursday, June 9th) the January 6th Select Committee is holding its first public hearing. Their goal? To investigate how the Insurrection was part of a much larger attempt to overturn the US government – to find out who planned it, paid for it, and executed it – and to illustrate why America must wake up to these facts if we want our democracy to survive.

PRIDE AND NO PREJUDICE!
June is LGBTQ+ Pride Month – and Pride events are the number one places to register eager new Democrats, bar none. If you can get to a Pride Event in any of our 9 target states: AZ, CA, FL, GA, NC, NV, PA, TX and WI... so much the better! Here’s just one of many Pride Event Calendars you can find online. REMEMBER: people at Pride events are friendly, so it’s also the most fun place to register new Democrats. CALIFORNIA DREAMIN':
PRIMARY ROUNDUP
Two days ago California held its primary, and while the final votes are still being counted, there is plenty of great news. Los Angeles activists will be fighting to elect the city's first Black female mayor, organizing hero and former Chair of the Congressional Black Caucus Karen Bass! She must win against Rick Caruso, a billionaire Trump supporter who registered as a Democrat just before he started his mayoral campaign.
Now let’s dive into the House races… Our champion Katie Porter looks to be in good shape in CA-47 – and the wonderful Mike Levin is also cranking out promising numbers in CA-49! The numbers also tell us Democrats have a good chance of flipping 2 to 6 House seats in November – and helping save the House. Here’s our breakdown.
CA-27, the district that slipped from Katie Hill (D) to Trumpian Mike Garcia (R), is absolutely within reach this cycle. The combined Democratic votes put our candidate Christy Smith (D) within a few thousand votes of Garcia. Help us buy more CA-27 data HERE. We can push her over the top!
CA-41 is an incredibly exciting prospect. For 30 years Ken Calvert (R) has represented this district, a man who not only looks like a Christmas ham – he has also accepted the most NRA money of any California politician, he voted to overturn the 2020 election results, and he’s famously homophobic. Our Democratic candidate, Will Rollins, is not only smart, inspiring, and a total badass who was a terrorism prosecutor – he’s also gay. And since redistricting, this district now includes… Palm Springs. Combining all Democratic votes from the primary, Rollins beats Calvert. We can do this!
In CA-13, Democratic candidate Adam Gray’s numbers support him flipping Devin Nunes’ former district by a razor-thin margin.
In CA-22, Rudy Salas (D) is the top vote-getter and is currently within a thousand votes of the combined Republican vote total. With a push, he could beat Republican incumbent David Valadao and flip this district too.
In Orange County district CA-40, our candidate Dr. Asif Mahmood (D) is the top vote getter so far. But in this reddish-purple district, he will need a lot of help to beat incumbent Young Kim (R).
CA-45, another Orange County district, Jay Chen (D) is performing well, but incumbent Michelle Steel (R) has a few thousand more votes at this point, and we’ll need to help as much as we can to flip this district blue.
CA-23 and CA-03 are also districts where some good voter registration and turnout work could lay the foundation for an upset victory in November.
But remember: NONE of these victories is a sure bet, not even Katie Porter or Mike Levin. What will turn these possibilities into gorgeous reality? YOU! BE A FIELD TEAM 6 SUMMER INTERN!
Field Team 6 is now accepting applications for our Summer Internship program. It's open to high school sophomores and older who can work 10-20 hours per week between June and September. This unpaid/volunteer position looks amazing on the resume and provides valuable training in a range of skills (leadership, organizing, writing, advertising, marketing, data collection/analysis, and more). Plus, it empowers students to establish a high school or college Democratic club, or even launch their own political career. And we'll provide interns with a great Letter of Recommendation. FIELD TEAM 6 CHAPTER*!
As the make-or-break midterms loom, there’s no better time to assemble your peeps into a new Field Team 6 chapter, come up with a name for your merry band of activists, and lead them to register Democrats and defend democracy!
Your chapter can be in-person or virtual. It can draw from a geographic base (e.g. FT6 Five Points Atlanta)... an ethnic group (FT6 Chinese-Americans for Democracy)... or even an alumni pool (FT6 Notre Dame Fighting Democrats).
Your community might be tiny at first. That’s cool. As long as you’re engaging and registering people, you’re making a difference!
Field Team 6 makes it easy-peasy to get going. We can help you create a Slack channel on the FT6 workspace to organize and communicate with your chapter members. (You might find other chapters to join there, too.) We have a calendar of upcoming events your chapter can join. There have been 229 school shootings in the US since Columbine. 33 mass shootings since Uvalde. We're grieving, but we're also taking action.
Saturday, June 11 from 10a-12p ET, it's time to March For Our Lives. Times vary for local marches across the country. (Click HERE to watch Emma Gonzalez's unforgettable speech from the first march in 2018).
As we did in 2018, we will march in cities across the country to demand a nation free of gun violence. And to help make that dream a reality, we're asking you to download the image to the right and make it the Lock Screen on your phone so you can register everyone marching next to you. This is how we channel righteous anger into votes against heartless, gun-lobby compromised Republicans!

PACKING A BIG PUNCH...
ONE POSTCARD AT A TIME!
A rousing Field Team 6 partner shout-out to the Bob Haar Resisters, an Avengers-style group of hardcore postcarders who crank out the handwritten notes in big numbers. How big? They've written 177,424 of the 742,295 postcards sent by FT6 and partners to date!
Bob's army of resisters has grown from 25 people in 2019 to a massive 4,000 writers and 12 assistants in 2022. In between GOTV campaigns, Bob's crew likes to keep wordsmithing. So when Bob discovered Field Team 6, it was a match made in heaven. "The reason I went with Field Team 6 is the effectiveness of their approach in identifying potential Democratic voters and then following up on their registration and voting. I can see the impact."

This week, we're throwing our own Jubilee of Appreciation in honor of an amazing volunteer, David Zorn, a Hollywood screenwriter and editor who's harnessed his multimedia skills for the greater good.
David wasn't always an activist, but after the 2016 election, he couldn't ignore that the country was in trouble. "I saw how many people had gotten sucked into an alternate reality cult of lies and weird worship of this fatuous, yapping circus clown."
And things went from bad to worse when he lost one of his best friends to the cult. "This was a friend who was like a brother, the kind of friend that you know will be a friend until the end." Around the same time, his mom unfortunately passed on. She'd always been a strong advocate for Democratic causes. Volunteering "is a way to honor her and continue to promote the things she valued most."
So David hooked up with Field Team 6 and jumped right in, textbanking and canvassing in-person. But his biggest contribution has been as a video editor. "Given the power of the media, I figured the most useful and valuable 'force multiplier' thing I could offer was my experience and skills as an editor, and I'm proud of the various videos we've made."
When he dreams about the future, he's laser focused on keeping our democracy intact and maybe even ridding the Republican Party of its "Delusion and Derangement Wing."
David, we salute your mad skills on the editing machines as well as your passion for causes you care about, like fighting climate change and saving democracy. We're truly honored to be comrades-in-arms!
