WBEC-East Statement Regarding Coronavirus (COVID-19)

At WBEC-East, the health and safety of our partners, members, and community is our top priority. As the situation regarding the coronavirus COVID-19 continues to evolve, we want to make sure that you have the information you need to stay safe and healthy.

Currently the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) considers the immediate health risk from the coronavirus to be low in our territory . However, this remains a ra pidly-evolving situation and several states have declared states of emergency . You can find comprehensive resources and guidance about COVID-19 on the CDC’s website, including tips on prevention and FAQs , and Resources for Business and Employers . Additional information and resources are available at the state level, including Pennsylvania , New Jersey , and Delaware , as well as at the local level for Philadelphia and Allegheny County

In response to CDC recommendations and guidance, WBEC-East is taking the following precautions, among others:

  • We have postponed our in-person events through the end of May 2020. Rescheduled dates for events will be announced later in the summer and fall as the situation evolves.

  • Our classroom education has transitioned to a web-based format through May 2020.

  • Each office has been equipped with appropriate sanitizing products, and staff are taking enhanced precautions to prevent spreading illness (e.g., frequent hand washing, avoiding face touching, and limiting personal interaction).

  • Travel will be restricted to business-critical purposes only.

We are still open for business!

While we are following the advice of health officials and taking appropriate precautions, we have the technology and resources to continue to serve you!

  • Certification applications for Women Business Enterprises are continuing to be processed and have not been impacted by any changes made internally. We anticipate that trainings and application reviews will continue without interruption.

  • Finally, we have added additional webinars for the spring to better serve you during this time. Remember to bookmark our Events page and check it often!

We are fortunate to have a strong network of WBEs, Council Members, corporate partners, board members, staff, and entrepreneurs who are working together during this time.

We will continue to make communication a top priority during these uncertain times. As circumstances continue to develop in the U.S. and elsewhere, we will review and update our protocols and offerings, as appropriate.

Please stay healthy and safe during this time, and know that WBEC-East remains a resource to you and your business.

Kind regards,
Elizabeth M. Walsh
