The Department of Planning and Development, along with the Chicago Department of Transportation, will co-host a virtual community meeting with Ald. Walter Burnett (27th), Ald. Byron Sigcho-Lopez (25th) and Ald. Jason Ervin (28th) to gather feedback on community priorities for unused Local Impact Funds in the West Loop neighborhood. This is a follow-up meeting to the September 2021 community meeting.
The meeting will take place on Zoom at 6 p.m. on Monday, May 23.
The fees are generated through the Neighborhood Opportunity Bonus, which enables developers of downtown construction projects to increase floor area in exchange for voluntary payments. The fees must be used for public works projects in the downtown area. The allocation of a Local Impact Fund is determined by DPD in consultation with the local alderman.
