AAPPL Testing 5th-8th Graders

We are excited to have AAPPL testing at WCA again this year!  This testing serves to inform you and your student of his/her progress in foreign language and to inform our foreign language programming.

AAPPL testing sign-up is now open (for 5th to 8th grade students ONLY).

We will check everyone at the door and if they do not meet the dress code, parents will be called to bring appropriate attire. 

Tops

Halter-tops, bare midriff, see-through apparel are not to be worn. Dresses and tops must have backs and straps. Low top dresses or tops will not be permitted.

Bottoms  

Dresses, skirts or shorts may be no shorter than fingertip length. All pants and slacks must be worn at the waist with no visible undergarments.

Cell Phones

Cell phones must be left at home or checked at the door. Cell phones will not be permitted in the dance.

Cultural Corner

The Maronick family (including WCA alumni, Vin age 15, and current WCA student Kyle age 13) traveled to Spain to live for a year, recently returning in Aug of 2022. It was such an enlightening cultural experience for them, and a year of real growth. 

For this reason Erin Maronick was drawn to explore an opportunity to become a certified international exchange student coordinator through Education First (EF). The international exchange is a program through the Department of State that EF administers to allow students all across the world the opportunity to study, learn, and grow in the United States. 

Erin’s role is to identify families that would like to host these special students in the home. It gives you and your family the opportunity to share the good word, globally, about the US. Given the experience they had in Spain, Erin believes being a host family will be super rewarding.

Volunteer Opportunities

World Compass Academy asks that each family volunteer 15 hours per school year. The volunteer requirement needs to be completed by the end of the school year. WCA will be using Track It Forward to log all volunteer hours completed this school year. Look for information on Track It Forward Accounts to be sent out soon.
