Cultural Celebration Dress Days

On language celebration days (Hispanic Heritage, Chinese New Year, Mardi Gras), students may wear either traditional cultural costume reflecting the heritage(s) being celebrated or formal uniform. Examples of traditional cultural costume could include the Hanfu, Cheongsam, or Folkloric dance dress. NO jeans, t-shirts, and sweatshirts, even if they include the language of the celebrated culture or are the contemporary clothing of the celebrated culture, these will not be considered traditional cultural costumes and are not permitted on cultural celebration days.

The goal is to honor and respect the cultures we are studying and learning about thus we increase formality of dress as a sign of respect for these cultures on these celebration days.

Around Campus

Many thanks to Pop Culture Classroom for donating Mr. Harbula's ELA class set of the award-winning graphic novel Button Pusher! Pop Culture Classroom is a Denver-based nonprofit organization that teaches literacy and the arts through alternative approaches to learning and character development. Button Pusher is an autobiographical memoir about a child who is diagnosed with ADHD and has to discover for himself how to best manage it. The texts will provide an engaging supplement for students to our Middle School Advisement unit on thoughts, emotions, and decisions. Thank you Pop Culture Classroom!

Our 2nd grade students enjoyed Westward Expansion Day. A favorite things was learning about the live cows at school. Students also got to participate in western activities.

High School Options & News

WCA welcomes many of the local high schools to our school each year for information sessions. These sessions inform students and parents on different options the high schools in our area offer. These sessions are recorded and published along with the slide deck presentation from each high school. Here is the link to view them. Expand the link to see new high schools as they are added.

Volunteer Opportunities

Board of Directors

The WCA Board of Directors is currently looking for two new members to fill open gaps. We are looking for parents or board members at large that have a background in policy & school compliance or children and public safety. These potential new members will fill roles on our compliance committee and safety committee. Those that are interested should fill out the board application located here:  Board of Directors Application

Lunch and Recess

Consider volunteering during lunch and recess to assist with student supervision. Our students especially love when adults lead and play games during recess. You can sign up to help here.

Family Volunteering

World Compass Academy asks that each family volunteer 15 hours per school year. The volunteer requirement needs to be completed by the end of the school year. WCA will be using Track It Forward to log all volunteer hours completed this school year.

CONGRATULATIONS to the families who have completed their volunteer hours for the 2023-2024 School Year!!
