Congratulations 8th Grade

Congratulations to our entire 8th-grade class on your Continuation into High School.

Many of these students are the first group of students to complete their entire K-8 education at WCA! Your hard work, perseverance, and dedication have led you to this milestone achievement. You have set a precedent for future classes and have become an integral part of our school's history.

As you move on to the next chapter of your lives, remember the knowledge, skills, and memories you've gained during your time at WCA. You are well-prepared to face the challenges and opportunities that lie ahead, and we are confident that you will continue to make us proud as you pursue your passions and dreams.

Remember you can Go Anywhere, Do Anything! Congratulations and Good Luck in High School!

Kindergarten Graduation

In a heartwarming display of tradition and community, WCA alumni, who are graduating from high school this year, returned to their alma mater to escort our kindergarten students to their graduation ceremony. Dressed in their caps and gowns, the high school graduates led the enthusiastic kindergartners down the aisle, symbolizing the journey they had once taken themselves.

K-3 DIBELS Testing

DIBELS testing results provide valuable insights into students' literacy skills and progress. The scores are used to assess key literacy skills such as phonemic awareness, alphabetic principle, accuracy, fluency, and comprehension. The results can help teachers and parents identify areas where a student may need additional support, and can also be used to monitor progress over time. As compared below per grade level you see the beginning of the year (BOY) overall results and the end of year (EOY) overall results. Congratulations teacher and students on the tremendous growth.

Around Campus End of Year Events

WCA would like to take a moment to share a few of things during the final two weeks of the school year, which were filled with memorable activities, events, and celebrations. We were proud to honor our 8th-grade students during their Continuation ceremony and wish them the best of luck in high school, and congratulate our Kindergarten Graduates.

The various activities and events during these last weeks provided an opportunity for our school community to come together, celebrate our students' successes, and reflect on the progress and growth that occurred throughout the year.

5th Grade Civil War Era

In a unique and engaging educational experience, 5th-grade students brought history to life in a Civil War Wax Museum exhibition. Transforming themselves into historical figures from the Civil War era, students dressed in period-appropriate attire and stood as living statues, prepared to deliver monologues and share fascinating facts about their chosen characters.

As visitors toured the museum, they had the opportunity to "press play" on each exhibit, prompting the student-actors to come to life and share their stories. The event not only showcased the students' creativity and research skills, but also provided an interactive and immersive way for both students and visitors to learn about the significant figures and events that shaped this pivotal time in American history.

Thank you Mrs. Wright for you hard work and dedication to the 5th grade students.

7th & 8th Grade Pig Dissection

In a hands-on science lesson that combined biology, anatomy, and a touch of squeamishness, 7th and 8th-grade students participated in a pig dissection. Under the guidance of Mrs. Stefanski and parent volunteers, with the utmost care and respect for the specimens, students donned gloves and face masks to explore the internal workings of these fascinating creatures.

As they made careful incisions and examined the various organs and systems, students gained a deeper understanding of the similarities and differences between pig and human anatomy. They were able to identify key structures and observe firsthand how these organs function together to support life. This unforgettable experience not only reinforced classroom lessons but also provided students with a newfound appreciation for the complexity and beauty of the biological world.

Mrs. Stefanski and Ms. Abshire, your commitment to our students and passion for education have been instrumental in creating a thriving learning environment. Thank you for all you do.

K-5 Author Assembly

Students at WCA had the incredible opportunity to hear from the talented author of "When the Sky Roars" during a recent visit to our school. This WCA mom and author, Katie Weaver, captivated the audience with a riveting presentation that brought the characters and story to life.

As the author shared her journey of creating this powerful book, students were given a unique glimpse into the writing process and the inspiration behind the story. The author's passion for storytelling and dedication to their craft served as an inspiration to our aspiring writers and readers.

To purchase her books use this link, 20% of her sales will be donated back to WCA: alittleoffbeat.com/wca Thank you Katie Weaver for sharing your story with WCA.

6th Grade Ocean Life Fair

Sixth-grade students dove deep into the fascinating world of marine life during WCA's annual Ocean Life Fair. The event showcased an array of student-created projects and presentations that explored the diverse creatures, habitats, and ecological challenges found in Earth's oceans.

Thank you Mrs. Bertsch and Mrs. Stefanski for creating such an unforgettable event.
