Dear World Compass Academy Families,
As we approach the holiday season, we’re excited to share one of World Compass Academy’s most cherished traditions—our Holidays Around the World celebration! In keeping with our mission to inspire “a lifelong love of learning and the skills to engage in the global community,” this annual event is a joyful way for our students to learn about and connect with cultures from across the globe.
This tradition replaces the typical holiday party before winter break, offering a unique and enriching experience for our students. Each grade level explores the winter holiday celebrations in a different region that aligns with the Core Knowledge curriculum, creating a rich tapestry of global celebrations:
- Kindergarten: The United States of America
- First Grade: Mexico
- Second Grade: India
- Third Grade: Scandinavia
- Fourth Grade: Europe
- Fifth Grade: South America
- Sixth Grade: Middle East
- Seventh Grade: Russia
- Eighth Grade: Africa
Ask your child about the exciting things they’ll be discovering as we explore the rich traditions of warmth, love, family, peace, generosity, and togetherness that define the winter months across the world. We can’t wait to celebrate these wonderful traditions together!
Warmly,
Bethany Merkling
Principal

Through this shared experience, we hope to cultivate an even greater sense of community and belonging among WCA families. If you are interested in volunteering for this event please sign-up here.

FAQ
- Each student will be served one piece of apple pie during their lunch period. You (the grown up) are invited to share that piece of pie with them (one piece of pie per student).
- If you have multiple kids at WCA, each child will get a piece of pie at their
designated lunch. If you can attend multiple lunches, that is wonderful. If not, and there is a different grown up who is able to attend, they are more than welcome.
- We will have a gluten free pie option. If that doesn’t work, you are welcome to bring an option that fits you/your child’s needs.
We hope you enjoy this chance to connect with your students during their lunch hour.
The Lost and Found will also be displayed for you to look through. As the temperatures change throughout the season the pile of sweatshirts and jackets has increased significantly.
Wishing you a beautiful start to the holiday season!
Michele Lowery, PTO

MS History
Students in Ms. Tabaka's 7th and 8th-grade History class recently conducted in-depth research on various Native American tribes. As part of their project, they investigated the geographical biomes where these tribes resided, the natural resources they utilized, their modes of travel, and the weaponry they developed. Each student focused on a specific tribe, creating a detailed and informative depiction of the unique characteristics and cultural practices that defined these indigenous communities.
