Administrator Note
Dear World Compass Academy Community,
One of the things that we most value about WCA is our community. As many of you are aware, last night, we came together to determine our response to the rising COVID numbers in our county. The decisions that have to be made are not easy. Over the past several days, our administration team and school nurse have spent many hours thinking about what is best for our community. Considering the myriad of perspectives is a lot like looking through a kaleidoscope. There are numerous different vantage points through which to view, most having clear validity when viewed through that specific lens, but put together those lenses create a fragmented view.
At a time when there is great dissension, our community was able to come together and engage in civil discourse. It takes great strength to truly listen to perspectives that vary from our own. Last night, that happened. Numerous viewpoints were shared. All were valid and an important piece of the puzzle worthy of consideration.
Thank you to all who had the courage to share their thoughts. Thank you to all that were willing to listen. Most importantly, thank you to our community who was willing to engage in a respectful discussion together. Together we will take care of our kids. We are exceedingly grateful for our community.
As a result of the discussion and decisions made at the board meeting last night we will be moving forward as follows:
- World Compass Academy will remain learning in-person.
-
The window to change into the remote learning program has been extended to Friday, November 20 at noon. The form to fill out can be found here.
- Due to the rising COVID cases and to mitigate outbreaks in the World Compass Academy Community, the student mask policy has been revised:
- All students in kindergarten-8th grade must wear a face mask, gaiter, or full face shield (partial shields are not permitted) in the building at all times.
- From November 30-December 18, K-8 school will release at 2:30 pm.
- The 8-3:30 school schedule will resume following winter break.
- Explorer’s Club will be available to families needing childcare.
- The cost for after school care is $14.50/daily
-
To register for Explorer’s Club please email kacie.strohman@worldcompassacademy.com
- This temporary schedule change will allow our specials teachers to support core subject instruction, when core subject teachers are absent.
- We are seeking two permanent building substitutes.
Please look for more information in IC. For the rest of the administrator note please click here.
Warm Regards,
Bethany, Krista, and Amanda

Let's work together to protect ourselves and others.
- Wash your hands OFTEN for at least 20 seconds.
- Avoid close contact, stay 6ft apart (arms length for both parties is a good rule of thumb)
-
Wear a mask that covers your MOUTH and NOSE.
- ALWAYS wear a mask in public settings and when around people who don't live in your house.
- A mask IS NOT a substitute for social distancing; you must do both.
- Only interact with members of your household - no social interactions, no parties
- Cover your coughs and sneezes.
- Clean and disinfect frequently touched surfaces DAILY.
- Monitor your health daily
- Be alert for symptoms
- Take your temperature if symptoms develop
I know this seems like common sense, but this virus is not going anywhere unless we do our part to prevent the spread. We all have an important role to play to protect our community. Doing these things WILL make a difference and we can get back to our lives sooner.
