Dear World Compass Academy Community,

I hope you will join us for parent teacher conferences on September 22 and 23. The strength of the home/school partnership is one of the biggest indicators of student success.  

Grades P-4

Grades P-4 academic subject conferences are by appointment. Please look for a sign-up to be sent from your student's homeroom teacher the week of September 6. Grades P-4 academic teachers will coordinate so they are able to speak to a student's performance across subject areas. 

If there are concerns from an academic subject area teacher who is not the student's homeroom teacher, that teacher will also reach out to parents to schedule an additional conference. Parents may of course also reach out to teachers who are not their student's homeroom teacher if they have concerns.

Parents are also invited to connect with specials and foreign language teachers. These teachers will be in the school gym on Thursday 2:30pm-4:30pm and 5:30pm-7:30pm. No appointment is needed for these conferences.  

Grades 5-8

Grades 5-8 conferences are in the school gymnasium Thursday 2:30pm-4:30pm and 5:30pm-7:30pm. No appointment is needed for these conferences. Friday morning times are reserved for meetings with families of students requiring additional support. Teachers will reach out to families to set up these meetings. Parents are also welcome to request a meeting time on Friday if they feel their student is struggling or are in need of increased confidentiality for the conference. Please email your student's teacher if this applies to you.

Attendance Policy

This year the procedure has changed for excusing your student from a school absence. This NEW PROCESS will help to streamline our attendance process with accurate information.

• Parents/guardians will no longer need to call the WCA attendance line.
• Instead, parents/guardians please fill out the student absence form on our website. The link is provided here. (This form can also be found on our website under Parent Resources/Attendance/Attendance Form. This form can also be found on the front page of the website towards the bottom of the page.) 
• ALL forms will then automatically go to our front office when you click the Submit button the no further action is required.

Nut Aware Campus

This is a friendly reminder that World Compass Academy is a NUT AWARE campus. 

• Students are NOT permitted to share food
• Students may bring snacks to the classroom as long as they are NUT FREE. Nuts are not permitted in classrooms. (The ingredient list may state "may contain," "produced on shared equipment with," or "produced in a plant that uses" tree nuts or peanuts.)
• Any snack that contains nuts will be removed from the classroom and the student will need to wash their hands. 

Students may eat nuts in the cafeteria only. A nut-free/hot lunch table will be provided for students who choose to utilize this accommodation. Please see WCA's allergy policy in the student handbook for more information. 

Students are not allowed to bring in food items to celebrate birthday parties at school. Please see the student handbook for alternative ways to celebrate your students birthday at school.

Volunteer Opportunities

World Compass Academy asks that each family volunteer 15 hours per school year. The volunteer requirement needs to be completed by the end of the school year. Once you have volunteered please complete the volunteer form to receive credit for your hours.

Spirit Wear & WCA Sweatshirts

WCA has two order times during the year for spirit wear t-shirts, elementary & middle school crewneck sweatshirts and middle school only hoodies. The first order time was in July and the next one is in November.
