WCAC stands in solidarity with
Nativity School of Worcester

Worcester Community Action Council and our Board of Directors stand in solidarity with the students, leadership, staff, and Board of Trustees of the Nativity School of Worcester in their decision to express support for making our communities more just and inclusive by flying the flags representing Pride and Black Lives Matter, and further agree that the School’s decision aligns with their expressed mission to provide  “…a quality, all-scholarship education to underserved boys of all faiths.’’
 
As a 57-year old antipoverty agency, WCAC is committed to partnering with others to create equitable and inclusive spaces that support the economic mobility of our most vulnerable, underinvested, underrepresented, and misrepresented communities.  
 
There is little doubt that Black, LatinX, Indigenous, Asian, Immigrant, and LGBTQ+ communities have borne the weight of decisions and actions that are oppressive and directly correlated to the cause of greater rates of poverty and wider gaps of access and opportunity for far too long.
 
In the spirit of honoring the sacred teachings of doing unto others as you would have others do unto you and loving our neighbors-as ourselves, WCAC voices our support for the Nativity School and its commitment to proudly and unwaveringly serving underrepresented communities and standing with their students.
