WCAC celebrates new & departing Board Members

Worcester, Massachusetts - At its 54th Annual Meeting of the Board of Directors, Worcester Community Action Council, Inc. bid farewell to three long-serving members and welcomed three new members to its unique, tri-partate make up.

Stepping off the Board were Michael Keegan, Steven Joseph and Alejandro Mango, representing more than forty years of service to WCAC between them.  The Board welcomed new members Janice Ryan Weekes, Marco Estrella and Kathryn Crockett.

"We are most grateful for the dedicated service and outstanding leadership Mike, Steve and Alex provided during their service on our Board," said Executive Director Marybeth Campbell. "As a former Board member myself, I appreciate their committment of time, talent and treasure to support WCAC's efforts to help our neighbors in need. I look forward to the new ideas and new energy our newly inducted members will bring as we continue to help people move to economic self-sufficiency."

Weekes is the Director for the Central Massachusetts Workforce Development Career Centers in Worcester and Southbridge, bringing with her strong leadership and organizational skills. She has over ten years' experience leading a college access program with emphasis on academic success, college awareness, leadership, retention, life skills and career exploration for at-risk youth. She is a past corporator with the Greater Worcester Community Foundation, volunteer with the United Way of Central MA's Women's Initiative and a member of the Affirmative Action Committee for the Worcester Public Schools. She serves currently as a member of both the MassHire State Workforce Board and UMass Children's Medical Center Family Advisory Council.

Estrella works in Global Talent Acquisition for PerkinElmer, Inc. of Waltham where he is responsible for developing the marketing and media strategy, US contingent labor program oversight, vendor relations and contracts management, talent market analytics and recruitment metrics reporting. He is a graduate of North High School, Worcester State University, and is a board member of Adelante Worcester and the HACE Committee.

Crockett is the president of Lamoureux Pagano Associates | Architects. In her role as president, she takes the lead on the strategic vision and direction for the company, cultivating  and maintaining client relationships, and developing LPA|A's staff.  She has held a key role in many of the firm's most prominent projects with municipalities and institutions in the greater Worcester Area including the recent WCAC Webster Head Start project. She is a corporator with the Greater Worcester Community Foundation, trustee of Mechanics Hall and the Worcester Research Bureau.

As directed by the agency's bylaws, WCAC's Board of Directors is a tripartite board comprised of representatives of the public sector, private sector and community.
