Southbridge Savings Bank's Charitable Donations Committee is proud to announce the donation of $36,000 to Worcester Community Action Council to assist local residents with heating costs this winter. The bank is committing to a total of $4,000 to each community it serves.

Unfortunately, to many, winter means the added stress of how can they afford to pay their heating bills and keep their family warm.  The Worcester Community Action Council (WCAC) understands and is dedicated to serving those who are most in need. Their fuel assistance program "is designed to provide relief to those households that are most vulnerable to high home heating costs."

"The Charitable Donations Committee (CDC) is very happy to contribute to such a worthwhile organization," said Ron Cooper, SSB VP and Chairman of the CDC, on offering the donation. "We are committed to helping those in need in the areas we serve, and no one should spend the winter in the cold."

"On behalf of the nearly 175 households who receive assistance annually due to Southbridge Savings Bank's generosity, we are eternally grateful," said WCAC Executive Director Jill Dagilis. "Whether it is supplementing assistance after federal allocations have been exhausted or preventing no-heat emergencies, these resources are invaluable to the vulnerable individuals we serve."
