HLA URGES
CONGRESS TO ENACT PRO-LIFE LEGISLATION
Human Life Action (HLA), the pro-life advocacy voice of the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops, is urging individuals to contact members of Congress and ask them to support three bills protecting
unborn children and women from late-term abortions, unborn babies who are born alive following an abortion, and health care workers who do not wish to participate in abortion. On Friday of this week, the House will vote on the Born-Alive Abortion Survivors Protection Act. The Senate is working to schedule a vote on the Pain-Capable Unborn Child Protection Act, which passed the House last October. The House vote (and possibly the Senate vote) is timed to coincide with the annual March for Life taking place on Friday, January 19 in Washington, D.C.
Finally, both the House and Senate are deeply involved in negotiations on a Fiscal Year 2018 appropriations bill and, as mentioned in previous action alerts, HLA is pressing hard to get the Conscience Protection Act included in that bill.
