WCCA Receives $50,000 NPP Grant for Sculpture Garden

WCCA is the recipient of a 2019 City of Lakewood Neighborhood Participation Program (NPP) grant. The grant is to improve the City-owned vacant parcel on the southwest corner of W. Colfax and Wadsworth. Congratulations to the WCCA Board for its leadership and all who helped develop the grant application for this much-needed project! A special "thank you" to our City leaders who recommended and approved this grant award.

The project proposed by WCCA has been awarded $50,000 with additional matching funds provided by WCCA and the Lakewood-W. Colfax BID. NPP grants are for projects typically located on public spaces that will improve the aesthetics and quality of life in our community and neighborhoods. While the WCCA grant team submitted a preliminary design concept (shown above) for a sculpture garden on the parcel, the City is working on refining the concept to have the best possible outcome for the space, which will include pedestrian seating areas and pedestals for public art. Stay tuned for updates at future WCCA meetings. Funds for this grant and the implementation will be managed by City staff.
