Wilkinsburg CDC Awarded Grant from the
Neighborhood Partnership Program

Six-year Funding Commitment to Support WCDC Operations,

Neighborhood Programs

We are proud to share that the Wilkinsburg Community Development Corporation (WCDC) has been awarded a six-year, $4.95 million grant through the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania’s Department of Community and Economic Development’s (PA DCED) Neighborhood Partnership Program (NPP).

"We are grateful to PA DCED and our corporate sponsors, for their commitment to our community and their belief in the value of our work,” said Tracey Evans, WCDC Executive Director. "This award will allow us to build on the momentum of our last 15 years in Wilkinsburg and look to the future – as we work towards our mission to create a Wilkinsburg that is a prosperous, healthy, and inclusive community regarded for its strong business district and neighborhoods, historic charm, convenient location, desirable quality of life, and community pride."

This grant represents the fourth NPP award since the WCDC’s establishment in 2010. State funds for this program are matched by local corporate investment by TriState Capital Bank, Highmark-HM Health Insurance Company, KeyBank, Dollar Bank and FNB Corporation.

Photographic Print Fair and Wilkinsburg Handmade Holiday Show Draw Thousands to the

Wilkinsburg Train Station

This Holiday season, the historic Wilkinsburg Train Station hosted thousands from around the region who gathered to celebrate art and community thanks to two unique events hosted by local businesses Eastern Standard Photo and Workshop PGH.

On November 15, Eastern Standard Photo hosted its third Annual Photographic Print Fair at the Station, which featured more than 40 local artists and drew more than 700 attendees. Eastern Standard Photo (608 South Ave.) a film lab and photo education center owned and operated by Wilkinsburg resident Kelly Lanzendorfer has been operating in the Borough since 2021.

A winter storm couldn't stop the Fourth Annual Workshop PGH Handmade Holiday Show!

Despite the snow and frigid temps, on Sunday, December 14 dozens of vendors came out to the Wilkinsburg Train Station and the Workshop Warehouse to shop local.

The event featured food, crafts, wares, and cheer with more than 1,000 people coming out to enjoy and celebrate.

Both Eastern Standard Photo and Workshop PGH host classes, and events right here in Wilkinsburg. We are proud to support them and encourage you to check out their incredible offerings!

HARP Awards Made to Local Homeowners

This week, WCDC's HARP (Homeowner Assistance & Repair Program) made 16 awards to local homeowners in need of repairs or replacements for roofs, gutters and downspouts. A total of nearly $200,000 will be invested across these properties with the goal of stabilizing our housing stock for current and future generations, preventing displacement and the loss of homes. With these awards the WCDC has supported nearly 50 Wilkinsburg homeowners through HARP.

WCDC's Evaine K. Sing Awarded

PHFA Housing Policy Fellowship

We are proud to share that the Pennsylvania Housing Finance Agency has named the WCDC's Evaine K. Sing as a 2026 Kathy A. Possinger Housing Policy Fellowship awardee! Evaine will receive a financial stipend of up to $12,000 during the year to conduct independent research benefiting the affordable housing industry.

Evaine's research project will focus on the dual challenges of vacant urban land and the growing need for affordable housing in Pennsylvania’s legacy cities focusing on Pittsburgh and the Borough of Wilkinsburg. Her project explores how modular housing and prefabricated construction can be paired with underutilized parcels to create cost-effective, resilient, and community-centered housing solutions. Congrats Evaine!
