Director's Notes
Dear Members,

Planning has been underway for the 4th Annual WCEDC Award Banquet since before the 3rd one happened!

I'm pleased to announce that the WCEDC has contracted with Andrew Davis to be our keynote speaker.  Andrew Davis is a bestselling author and internationally acclaimed keynote speaker. Before building and selling a thriving digital marketing agency, Andrew produced for NBC's Today Show, worked for The Muppets in New York and wrote for Charles Kuralt. He's appeared in the New York Times, Forbes, the Wall Street Journal, and on NBC and the BBC. Davis has crafted documentary films and award-winning content for tiny start-ups and Fortune 500 brands.

Recognized as one of the industry's "Jaw-Dropping Marketing Speakers," Andrew is a mainstay on global marketing influencer lists. Wherever he goes, Andrew Davis puts his infectious enthusiasm and magnetic speaking style to good use teaching business leaders how to grow their businesses, transform their cities, and leave their legacy.

I was able to attend a conference where Andrew was the keynote speaker, and his presentation was truly phenomenal and memorable.

I read his book, Town Inc, and knew he was the person we should work with to develop a vision for revitalization in Washburn County.  I highly recommend his book.  In the several months leading up to the banquet, we will have a group made up of those interested around the entire county to go through the book, and determine the best vision for Washburn County moving forward.  That's why I'm also pleased to announce the theme for the 2020 banquet:  "2020 Vision."  If you are interested in being a part of this group, please contact me soon.  I will have more details available in the near future.

Andrew has a message for you, and it's a video found here. (It's really good!)

Progress also continues on filling the old Shopko building.  I soon hope to announce a new business coming to that location.  The rumors, I'll admit, have been entertaining.

There's a lot happening within the County, and it's pointing toward growth.  So let's work on our 2020 Vision, together!

Kind regards,

Joel Zimmerman
