WCHS YEAR-END FUND APPEAL
As we reflect on this uncertain and difficult year, we’ve taken time to consider the many things for which we are grateful…our families, our homes (many in Winnebago with new roofs and siding!), our Winnebago community resilience, and so much more. The Winnebago Community Historical Society has been able to continue interior work on the restrooms and entry area. The Town Hall basement is drier than it has been in many years because we connected its downspouts and sump pump into the Village storm sewer system. We held a highly successful Town Hall Garage Sale and a Small Business Saturday Open House. We’ve received some wonderful donations of items from area families. Our garden has new benches and plants thanks to a grant from HomeStart. We’ve purchased equipment and supplies to help us conserve and digitize local history materials and to enhance our programs and events with technology, thanks to a grant from the Community Foundation of Northern Illinois.
So, we have much to be grateful for this year, although we’ve not been able to do very much programming or fundraising. As we move into 2021, our operating funds and our Town Hall Renovation Fund are depleted. We have programs and events ready to go when we can be together again, grant applications waiting on decisions, and we want to begin the expensive brickwork repair on the Town Hall. If you can help us get a head start on next year’s work, you will make a huge difference in the work of WCHS!
