PIONEERS BASEBALL TEAM

BEGINS CONFERENCE PLAY



The Pioneers baseball team is off to a good start in the 2023 season. In conference play, the Pioneers are 3-1, posting a two-game winning streak. The team's most recent win was on Feb. 25 against Galveston College. Wharton County Junior College won the doubleheader, 10-8 and 8-2. The Pioneers' overall season record is 8-12. Head Coach Trey Porras has high expectations for the rest of the season. Last year's team set a single season win record and came within one game of winning an NJCAA regional. "I am excited to see them go out and do what they love to do," Porras said.

ARRINGTON CONTINUES CAREER

Volleyball player Tori Arrington of Boling signs to continue her volleyball career

Pioneers volleyball player Tori Arrington of Boling has committed to continue her career at Texas A&M - Corpus Christi. Arrington was an Outside Hitter for the Pioneers and racked up a host of honors, including 1st Team All-Conference.


ALL-STATE CHOIR

Three Wharton County Junior College Choir students will perform at the Texas Music Educators Conference this spring as part of the Texas Two-Year College All-State Choir.

Eight Wharton County Junior College instructors have been recognized for their commitment to their particular fields of study by the National Institute of Staff and Organizational Development (NISOD).

NURSING GRADUATES

Sixteen students have earned their Associate of Applied Science Degree in Nursing from Wharton County Junior College. A pinning ceremony was held at the conclusion of the Fall 2022 semester on the Wharton campus.
