PHILLIPS 66 DONATION

The WCJC Foundation, in partnership with WCJC, this month announced that Phillips 66 has donated $10,000 toward vocational scholarships for the current academic year.

IMPROVEMENT PROJECTS

From an upgraded elevator to new air-conditioning to a 15,000 square foot construction trades facility, WCJC has implemented a variety of projects aimed at improving its campuses. The projects are part of the college’s 2018 master plan. One large-scale project is the construction of a new student center on the Wharton campus that will house the bookstore, student lounge and cafeteria. Another project is the renovation of the Wharton campus library to house admissions, registration, financial aid and the business office.

WCJC students Elaina Light of Sugar Land and Spencer Cole of Needville were chosen to represent the WCJC Choir earlier this month at the Texas Music Educators Association Convention in San Antonio.

WCJC will launch a new Continuing Education Patient Care Technician program this spring to equip students with the skills needed to excel in one of the fastest-growing fields in the medical industry.

A career training grant will provide new opportunities for WCJC's Automotive Technology program. Through the Jobs and Education for Texans (JET) grant, WCJC will receive more than $316,000.

WCJC employee Gloria Crockett was recently commissioned a Yellow Rose of Texas, an honorary appointment conferred by Governor Greg Abbott on Texas women known for exceptional community service.
