TIME FOR CELEBRATION
WCJC dedicates Corbett Park
A grand opening celebration is planned for Sunday, Feb. 2, at WCJC's new Corbett Park. The $1.7 million ballpark was made possible through a donation from Houston resident Duncan Corbett.

PLAY BALL 
Pioneers begin baseball season
The WCJC Pioneers will open their 2020 baseball season on Jan. 31, and new head coach Trey Porras couldn't be more ready to get the season started.

GOLF TOURNAMENT
Event funds student scholarships

The WCJC Foundation will host its 7 th Annual Golf Classic on Friday, Feb. 21 at the El Campo Country Club. Proceeds from this year’s tournament will support scholarships for 2020 high school graduates to attend the college. Since 2017, the Foundation has awarded $144,000 in scholarships to area students to attend WCJC. The WCJC Foundation is a not-for-profit corporation of volunteers that provides financial assistance for scholarships, programs and faculty development.
JOCHEC RETIRES
Geraldine Jochec recently retired after serving in WCJC's Business Office for 14 years. The WCJC Board of Trustees recognized Jochec at the Jan. 21 meeting, presenting her with a plaque and a resolution.
MARKS RETIRES
The WCJC Board of Trustees at their Jan. 21 meeting recognized the retirement of Beverley Marks after 19 years of service as a counselor in Student Services. A resolution was also adopted for Nancy Witt, who is retiring after seven years as an LVN instructor.
CAMPUS CARE
On-campus clinic offers services
WCJC is now offering an on-campus medical clinic for the benefit of students, employees and their dependents. The clinic is housed in the LaDieu Technology Center on the Wharton campus.

SIGNING DAY
Broughton to play ball for St. Mary's
WCJC Pioneers Baseball Team infielder Brandon Broughton of Corpus Christi recently signed to play ball with St. Mary's University in San Antonio following his time at WCJC. Broughton last season had a .305 batting average with eight home runs, 26 RBI and 21 runs.
