PIONEERS HAVING GREAT SEASON

The WCJC Pioneers volleyball team is making its mark in Region 14 of the National Junior College Athletic Association. WCJC is currently 5-2 in conference play and 16-5 overall.

LVN PROGRAM GRADUATION

Twenty-five students representing six area counties recently graduated from the WCJC Vocational Nursing (LVN) program. A ceremony was held at the Pioneer Student Center.

Thirteen students recently graduated from the WCJC Radiologic Technology program. A ceremony was held on the Wharton campus.

BRANCH NAMED TO

PRO FOOTBALL HALL OF FAME


WCJC alumnus Clifford Branch was recently named to the Pro Football Hall of Fame. Branch, who passed away in 2019, played football and ran track for WCJC in the late 1960s before attending the University of Colorado. He was drafted by the Oakland Raiders and played in three Super Bowls. WCJC Athletic Director Keith Case, pictured above, and former AD Gene Bahnsen attended the Hall of Fame ceremony in Canton, Ohio. Branch was named to the WCJC Hall of Fame in 2021.

PIONEERS MAKE BIG LEAGUES

Two former members of the WCJC Pioneers baseball team were earlier this year selected in the Major League Baseball draft. Ryan Jennings (pictured above) from New Braunfels pitched for WCJC from Fall 2017 to Spring 2019 and transferred to Louisiana Tech University. He was selected in the 4th round by the Toronto Blue Jays. Cameron Foster (below) is from Richmond and pitched for WCJC from Fall 2017 to Spring 2019. He transferred to McNeese State University and was selected in the 14th round by the New York Mets. 

WCJC RETIREMENTS

WCJC recently accepted the retirements of  nine employees. Retirees were presented with awards of appreciation as well as resolutions adopted by the WCJC Board of Trustees.

CAR SAFETY SEAT EVENT

WCJC students and staff teamed up with the Texas Department of Transportation and the Wharton Police Department to host a car safety seat event at the Wharton campus. A total of 42 seats were checked, with 34 replacement seats issued free of charge.
