Thank you to the Klassen Family
On Friday, July 24th family and friends of John P. Klassen came together at Colasanti's to celebrate his birthday at the annual "Hön-Down". This year would have been John's 60th birthday. In memory of John, this year the family donated the proceeds of the annual event to the Windsor Cancer Research Group. Thank you to Jane and her family for supporting the WCRG and local cancer research.
Congratulations to Dr. Marlys Koschinsky
The WCRG will lose a member of its Executive Committee when Dr. Marlys Koschinsky takes on a new role as Scientific and Executive Director of the Robarts Research Institute, at the Schulich School of Medicine & Dentistry. Dr. Koschinsky was instrumental in working with the Windsor-Essex cancer research community to initiate the WCRG and we are grateful for all her continued support. Thank you Dr. Koschinsky and we wish you all the best!
Conference Organizing Committee Members Needed
WCRG is in the initial planning stages for its 3rd Biennial International Cancer Research Conference to be held in November, 2016. As such we are looking for individuals from diverse backgrounds (researchers, health care professionals, students, trainee, community members) who would like to be a part of our organizing committee. Please contact Karen Metcalfe if you are or know of someone who may be interested in participating.
Funding Opportunities
Over the summer months, the WCRG updated the list of funding opportunities available for Canadian cancer researchers. Go to our website to see a complete list. We invite you to use the resource as a tool to plan your grant submissions over the next year. Please contact us if we can help facilitate collaborations or provide feedback to strengthen submissions.
