2022 Rural Champion

Spotlight on Rural Poster Fair

16 Posters were presented and attendees were asked to vote for the top 3 posters. Congratulations to our top 3!


1st Place:  Increasing the Awareness and Addressing the Satisfaction of the Women, Infant, and Children (WIC) Program by Thomas Voss, Medical College of Wisconsin—Central Wisconsin


2nd Place:  Identifying Investigator Reported Barriers And Successes to Cancer Clinical Trials Enrollment by Daniel Walgenbach, Medical College of Wisconsin—Green Bay


3rd Place:  Advocates in Medicine Pathways: Addressing provider shortages of Central Wisconsin Rural & Hmong populations by Chloe Lang, Medical College of Wisconsin—Central Wisconsin

GME Leadership Academy - Series 2

WiNC, WCRMGE, and MCW are pleased to present the Rural GME Leadership Academy Series 2 – a training opportunity for experienced, new, and upcoming rural faculty preceptors or residents engaged in medical education. Registration information will be coming soon!

Program Description:

The Rural GME Leadership Academy SERIES 2  will continue your development as a rural GME physician leader by building upon the foundation of your 101 participation (or similar experience), advance your rural GME leadership abilities and identity, and expand your ability to influence the culture of rural GME in your institution and the communities you serve.

Grants & Funding 

The HRSA Rural Residency Planning & Development (RRPD) Program is live on grants.gov and will be accepting applications through January 27, 2023. Up to 15 grants will be awarded to support development of Rural GME in family medicine, internal medicine, psychiatry, general surgery, preventive medicine, or obstetrics and gynecology.

Medicine: The Rural Point of View

Our schedule for the 2022-2023 Medicine: The Rural Point of View series is out now!


Medicine: The Rural Point of View is a new project for medical students that was launched in 2020 which is designed to increase the awareness and interest of medical students to consider training and then practicing rural medicine.

Ashland Visit

Recently, Jennifer and Lori visited Memorial Medical Center in Ashland to further discuss their Emergency Medicine Fellowship. During their visit, they got the chance to hike at Copper Falls State Park. Thanks for hosting us Mark and Patti!

Midwestern University Visit

Recently, WCRGME and Monroe Hospital Family Medicine Residency Program visited Midwestern University to talk with M2s. At their visit, they spoke to 85 M2s !
