Spring Break Hours

Hours for the WCU in Philadelphia Campus/State System @ Center City student lounge and computer lab during Spring Break (the week of March 12th) will be as follows:

Monday through Friday: 10:00am - 4:30pm
Saturday (3/10 and 3/17): 9:00am - 3:30pm
WCU in Philadelphia Commencement Ceremony

WHEN: Monday May 14, 2018
Undergraduate Ceremony begins at 5:00pm
Graduate Ceremony begins at 7:00pm

WHERE: DoubleTree by Hilton Hotel Philadelphia Center City, 237 S. Broad St.

You should have received an email with all Philadelphia Commencement details on Thursday, March 8th. If you did not, please contact Marcie for the information.

Note: May/August 2018 graduates may participate in both the main campus and Philadelphia ceremonies, just the main campus ceremony, or just the Philadelphia ceremony; whatever you choose! If you would like to participate in the Philadelphia ceremony, you MUST RSVP, as per the March 8th email.

*Tickets are NOT required for Philadelphia commencement ceremonies.*

Let’s Get Together Group - Thursdays at 5pm beginning March 22nd

The Let’s Get Together Group will begin on Thursday, March 22 nd and will be held on Thursdays at 5pm for the remainder of the semester. The Let’s Get Together Group will offer an opportunity for WCU Philly students to discuss their personal concerns, give and receive peer support, and address skills, techniques, and strategies to help provide relief to common symptoms and experiences of WCU Philly students, including stress, anxiety, depression, trauma, life demands, and relationship problems.

To join, please email Dr. Kristin Shelesky, kshelesky@wcupa.edu . If you are unable to email in advance, please join us at the meeting time. The group will be held in Room 9.

On the WCU West Chester Campus

DubC Film Race, begins April 6th: The 48HRFR is a 48-Hour Student Video Competition open to all currently registered West Chester University and Cheyney University undergraduate students.
The 48HRFR is a creative arts opportunity where students team up with friends and produce a short film – write it, shoot it, edit it, and produce it...all in just 48 hours! Student teams gather,  pre-register , and then will actually draw to find out their genre, a prop, and other film elements. Once you have your those key elements... GO! Students have 48 hours to turn around a 3-5 minute professionally crafted film. The films are then judged by professionals in the industry and awarded cash and swag prizes from West Chester Film Festival and others. *Kick-off event can be livestreamed on the Philadelphia Campus, but one representative from each team will need to attend the Awards Reception on April 19th.

Working With Linguistic Minorities in Inter-Professional Collaborative Care to Improve Health Outcomes - Monday, April 9th, 6:00-8:00pm
WCU Business and Public Management Center, room 213

This is the last of a four-part series of trainings designed to address patient-centered, interprofessional collaborative care (aka integrated care), that is behavioral health and primary care services delivered collaboratively for optimal health outcomes.

This training, led by Dr. Pablo Arriaza , is focused on working with linguistic minorities in integrated care and will address the following objectives: 
  • Examine the ethics of interprofessional care with linguistic minorities.
  • Develop service plans to enhance healthcare outcomes for clients with limited English proficiency.
  • Describe the role of interprofessional care teams in communicating effectively with clients with limited English proficiency.
  • Discuss language complexities in treatment with Latinos.
