Newcombe Scholarship Application Deadline Extended
to April 19th!

Newcombe & Related Scholarships Deadline Extended to April 19th! Due to WCU's Systems Outage, we are extending the deadline for the Charlotte W. Newcombe and related scholarships for mature students application. Scholarship Manager is currently down, but you should have plenty of time to submit once access is restored. See our FAQ at bit.ly/NewFAQ2122 or email us at cwge@wcupa.edu for any questions you may have. We hope many of our mature students coming into their junior year or higher will still consider applying.
LGBTQIA+-Centered Scholarships
Deadline April 12th

The Center for Trans and Queer Advocacy is now accepting applications for four LGBTQIA+-centered scholarships.

Application Instructions: Deadline is Monday, April 12th, 2021 at 11:59PM
  1. Read the descriptions for the scholarships award criteria
  2. Write a personal statement as to why you believe you should be awarded the scholarship and which scholarship you would like to be selected for
  3. When completed, email your application to TransandQueer@wcupa.edu with the subject "Scholarship Application"

Descriptions:
  • The Bayard Rustin Book Scholarship (1-$500 Award) - Given to a student who has demonstrated a commitment to diversity, civility, and the inclusion/advocacy of LGBTQA concerns in their curricular and/or co-curricular lives.
  • Beth 0. Baker '77 Award (1- $500 Award) - Given to a heterosexual cis-gender student who has served as an LGBTQA Ally in honor of Beth O. Baker, one of the founders of the Gays of West Chester in 1975.
  • Dorothy Gilson Baker '47 Award (1- $500 Award) - Given to a student who is self-identified transgender and has advocated in the community for the inclusion of gender identity in policies and practices.
  • Bob Baker Award (1- $500 Award) - Given to a student leader of the Executive Board of the LGBTQA Student Groups who has demonstrated leadership and a desire to make a difference in the world.

·       Understand interview stressors and how to use mindfulness to destress.

AL1GN’s 5th Annual National Conference Alliance for the Low-Income and First-Generation Narrative
Free, Virtual Conference
April 9 - 11

AL1GN is a national conference series dedicated to empowering first-generation and low-income (FGLI) students. AL1GN seeks to provide a forum on which FGLI students can take control of their own diverse narratives while working together with faculty and staff to spark new and revamped programming at their home institutions. Over the course of a weekend, participants exchange ideas, create new relationships with fellow student leaders and concerned staff, and develop the foundation on which impactful work can occur.
