Cinema Worcester presents “Fjord”

Fri. Sat. & Sun.

November 6, 7 & 8th

Cinema Worcester in conjunction with the WCUW FrontRoom presents “Fjord”, a film by Cristian Mungiu.

The Gheorghius, a devout Romanian Norwegian couple, resettle in a village set in a distant fjord where they become close to their neighbors, the Halbergs. Their children bond despite their different education.

When adolescent Elia Gheorghiu shows up at school with some bruises on her body, the community asks itself if the traditional education that the Gheorghiu children get from their parents would have anything to do with it.

“Cristian Mungiu wants you to consider the impact of extremism with his thorny, riveting “Fjord.” The Palme d’Or-winning director …. holds a mirror up to a deeply polarized era in which it feels like everyone has an opinion about their neighbor’s behavior.” – Brian Tallerico, RogerEbert.com

““Fjord” wears the meditative cloak of an art film, but at heart it’s a political docudrama in the classic tradition of the New Hollywood.” – Owen Gleiberman, Variety

Run time is 2 hours and 26 minutes. R (full nudity | language | self-injury).

Showtimes: Friday, November 6, 7 pm; Saturday, November 7, 1 pm; and Sunday, November 8, 1 pm.

Purchase tickets online: $14.64 general admission, $12.51 senior/student with ID, $11.44 for WCUW members (processing fees included).

Tickets at the door: $12 general admission, $10 senior/student with ID, $9 for WCUW members.

Main South CDC Celebrates 40 Years of Building Community

with Exhibition in the

Harold Stevens Gallery at WCUW

November 9–22, 2026

Harold Stevens Gallery

inside WCUW

910 Main Street, Worcester, MA

— In celebration of its 40th anniversary, the Main South Community Development Corporation (Main South CDC) will be the subject of a retrospective exhibition, Main South CDC: 40 Years of Building Community, at WCUW’s Harold Stevens Gallery, 910 Main Street, Worcester.

As neighbors in the Main South community, WCUW and the Harold Stevens Gallery are proud to present this look back at four decades of work to strengthen and revitalize the neighborhood. The exhibition runs November 9–22, 2026.

Through photographs, documents, and newspaper articles, the exhibition traces the CDC’s work alongside residents, local businesses, and community partners to create and preserve affordable housing, support small businesses, expand educational and community programs, improve public safety, and activate public spaces.

Founded by a group of concerned neighborhood residents and Clark University representatives, the Main South CDC hired Steve Teasdale as its first executive director and first staff member in 1988. Over the past four decades, the organization’s work has grown through the dedication of its staff, residents, and community partners, helping shape Main South and improve the quality of life for those who live and work here.

This retrospective offers an opportunity to reflect on the people, partnerships, and accomplishments behind 40 years of community building—and the ongoing work of creating a stronger future for Main South.

The public is invited to explore this history at the Harold Stevens Gallery, located inside WCUW. Admission is free.

For gallery hours visit WCUW.org and the Harold Stevens Gallery page.
