Friday, April 3, thru Sunday, April 5: Cinema Worcester at the Frontroom Presents “Andre is an Idiot”

Cinema Worcester in conjunction with the WCUW Frontroom presents “Andre is an Idiot”, a film by Tony Benna.

André Ricciardi – a constantly wisecracking former advertising executive, a semi-reformed hard-living hedonist, and father of two teenage girls and loving husband – was only in his early 50s when he realized that he’d made a big mistake when he passed up the chance to have a colonoscopy test with his best friend.

Now he is dying because he didn’t get that colonoscopy. His sobering diagnosis, complete irreverence, and insatiable curiosity, send him on an unexpected journey learning how to die happily and ridiculously without losing his sense of humor.

“A riotously funny, painfully honest film about facing death.” – The Guardian

“Tony Benna’s irreverent, frenetic bio-doc “André Is an Idiot” is unlike any cancer doc you’ve ever seen. 4 stars.” – RogerEbert.com

“Hilarious and heartbreaking. 3 ½ stars.” – The Boston Globe

Run time is 1 hour 28 minutes. NR.

Showtimes: Friday, April 3, 7 pm; Saturday April 4, 1 pm; and Sunday, April 5, 1 pm.

Purchase tickets online: $14.64 general admission, $12.51 senior/student with ID, $11.44 for WCUW members (processing fees included).

Tickets at the door: $12 general admission, $10 senior/student with ID, $9 for WCUW members.

The WCUW Frontroom is located at 910 Main St., Worcester MA. Parking in the Clark University lot across the street, or on the street.

Your copy should address 3 key questions: Who am I writing for (audience)? Why should they care (benefit)? What do I want them to do (call-to-action)?

Create a great offer by adding words like "free," "personalized," "complimentary," or "customized." A sense of urgency often helps readers take action, so consider inserting phrases like "for a limited time only" or "only 7 remaining!"

Thursday, April 9, thru Friday, April 10: Cinema Worcester at the Frontroom Presents “Two Prosecutors”

Cinema Worcester in conjunction with the WCUW Frontroom presents “Two Prosecutors”, a film by Sergei Loznitsa.

The latest film from the great Ukrainian director Sergei Loznitsa (My Joy) is a scalpel-precise tale of the horrors of totalitarian bureaucracy.

Adapting a novel by Soviet writer and political prisoner Georgy Demidov, set in the Soviet Union in 1937, Loznitsa follows the attempts of an idealistic government-appointed prosecutor (Alexander Kuznetsov) to expose the mistreatment of a dissident Bolshevik writer who has been jailed and tortured without evidence of wrongdoing.

As he gradually comes to realize, the lack of cause for the man’s imprisonment is hardly unique under Stalin’s regime, and the neophyte lawyer may be putting himself in danger by exposing his own moral righteousness.

Loznitsa constructs his story with a patient yet unmistakable sense of mounting dread, focusing on the devastating minutiae that allows fascism to function in our world.

“Drawn from a suppressed story by gulag survivor Georgy Demidov, Sergei Loznitsa’s haunting film unravels a terrifying parable of bureaucratic evil.” – The Guardian
