For Worcester County

Sunday, May 3, thru Saturday, June 6: Mannequin

The Harold Stevens Gallery presents “Mannequin”, a collaborative exhibition of photography, video, and sculpture examining how human identity is shaped by digital technologies.

The closing reception is Wednesday, June 3, from 5 to 7 pm. Join us for a panel discussion and gallery talk, and a guest lecture, “The Human Connection,” by photographer Ricardo Barros.

Through immersive works, the artists explore how digital culture influences behavior, perception, and self-understanding, blurring the line between authenticity and imitation.

The Artists

Dante Diez — Argentine American artist based in New York City, works in photography, sculpture, and film exploring how smartphones and social media shape interaction, often rendering users mannequin-like. IG: @diez_dante | DaDiez@clarku.edu

Simon Pinchbeck — Connecticut-based filmmaker with a BA from Clark University. Explores the intersection of natural and mechanical worlds, blurring human and object through movement and stillness. IG: @simonpnch | SPinchbeck@clarku.edu

Hoang Truong — Vietnamese photographer, trained in Europe in traditional darkroom techniques. Examines resilience of nature within artificial and urban environments. IG: @hoangtruong.9x | HoTruong@clarku.edu

Ricardo Barros — is a photographer, writer, curator, and filmmaker. His works are in many permanent collections including The Smithsonian American Art Museum, Museum of Art of São Paulo, and Fitchburg Art Museum.

Give the Drummer Some: with Earl Palmer, JM Van Eaton, Adonis Rose, the New Orleans Jazz Orchestra, 6/3/2026

It’s time to give the drummer some, with late New Orleans native Earl Palmer talking about his creative percussion for Fats Domino and Little Richard sessions; and conversation with Memphis rockabilly JM Van Eaton about backing Jerry Lee Lewis; plus rhythm and time-keeping in music from Elvis and Johnny Cash to Smokey Johnson and Slim Gaillard. Then a live set dedicated to the soul, funk and jazz of New Orleans drummer James Black with Adonis Rose and the New Orleans Jazz Orchestra.

Thursday, June 4: Cinema Worcester at the Frontroom Presents “Koln 75 (2025)”

Cinema Worcester in conjunction with the WCUW Frontroom presents “Koln 75 (2025)”, a film by Ido Fluk. Suggested through our famous “suggest-a-film” feature at cinema-worcester.com.

Keith Jarrett’s legendary performance in January 1975 nearly didn’t happen.

Based on a true story, Köln 75 follows how the concert was conceived and orchestrated by the efforts of a teenage up and coming concert promoter, Vera Brandes, (played by German actress Mala Emde). Her enthusiasm set her to multitasking — from organizing the concert venue (the Cologne Opera House), promoting the event, and selling the tickets, to convincing Jarrett to perform when he almost dropped out when the Bösendorfer Imperial Grand piano he was promised was nowhere to be found.

John Magaro plays Jarrett with his own intensity, a sublime counterpoint to Mala Emde’s joyful portrayal of the enthusiastic and unstoppable Vera.

Köln 75 captures the compelling, entertaining and, until now, unknown back story about Jarrett’s one-hour, entirely improvised concert, which became the best-selling solo album in jazz history.

“A light and zippy music biopic explores the story behind one of the most famous concerts ever performed.” – IndieWire (UK)

Saturday, June 6: Diane Blue All-Star Quartet
with Cliff Goodwin at the Frontroom

Boston’s Diane Blue is a “multi-talented performer who’s equally at home belting out a blues standard or cutting loose with a ferocious harmonica solo.” (Bill Van Siclen, Providence Journal).

Her performances are captivating, charismatic and heartfelt, whether fronting her own world-class band or singing alongside master Bluesman Ronnie Earl. Ms. Blue, the first female member of Ronnie Earl and the Broadcasters, is prominently featured on the band’s most recent six celebrated records, including co-writing credits.

Diane’s reputation as a sensational entertainer has led her all over the United States and tours of Europe where audiences enjoy her traditional and original songs alike.

A multi-nominated and award-winning artist, she has shared the stage with many greats including Muddy Waters’ guitarist Luther “Guitar Jr.” Johnson, Irma Thomas, Toni Lynn Washington and the late Big Jack Johnson of Clarksdale, Mississippi who called Diane a “monster on the harp.”

Cliff Goodwin will be joining the band on lead guitar! A special show indeed with our hometown hero gracing the FrontRoom stage! Cliff’s resume is extensive with a dozen years on stage with Joe Cocker being a major highlight! You can hear his musical life story thru an interview series here at wcuw.org/interviews!

Listen to Cliff Goodwin with Darren & the Mayor, talking about this upcoming performance. Go to our Spinitron archive page and, in the box, choose 5/29/26, 6 PM 00, and hit the ‘play’ arrow.

Diane’s latest album, “Diane Blue All-star Band: Live at the Fallout Shelter, November 26, 2022” (Regina Royale Records) was produced by Lorne Entress and Diane Blue. It features Chris Vitarello on guitar, Dave Limina on Hammond B3 organ, and Lorne Entress on drums, and was recorded live at the Fallout Shelter in Norwood, MA.

Showtime: Saturday, June 6, 7:00 pm. Doors open at 6:30. Tickets $20 cash or Venmo at the door. Light refreshments will be served.

The WCUW Frontroom is located at 910 Main St., Worcester MA. Parking in the Clark University lot across the street, or on the street.

Saturday, June 6: Diane Blue All-Star Quartet at the Frontroom

Or, visit Fantastic Pizza/Grub Guru next door for pizza, Indian food, and more, to eat-in or to bring back.

The WCUW Frontroom is located at 910 Main St., Worcester MA. Parking in the Clark University lot across the street, or on the street.

Via the phone, Diane Blue will be on the Jukebox of Americana Friday June 5th at 12 Noon!
