ART in the WCUW Harold Stevens Gallery

Now thru Wednesday, November 4th:

Inherited Echoes:

A Central American Diaspora Exhibition

“Renacer en las Aguas de Moncagua (Rebirth in the Waters of Moncagua)” by Sueey Gutierrez

The Harold Stevens Gallery presents “Inherited Echoes: A Central American Diaspora Exhibition.” Curated by Vanessa Calixto and Veronica Melendez.

Inherited Echos brings together artists with roots across Central America, including Guatemala, El Salvador, Honduras, Nicaragua, Costa Rica, Belize, and Panama.

Inherited Echoes explores how stories, culture, memory, and identity are carried across borders and generations. Through a range of artistic mediums, participating artists address memory, resistance, hope, belonging, and cultural inheritance.

WCUW is a community radio station and cultural space where art, music, spoken word, film, and conversation come together. WCUW Community radio serves as both a gathering place and a means of transmitting voices, stories, music, and memory across time and distance.

In addition, tune in to WCUW for a curated Central American music hour and conversations with participating artists. And In collaboration with Cinema Worcester, on November 1 from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm, there will be special screening featuring short films by diasporic filmmakers, extending the themes of Inherited Echoes beyond the gallery walls.

Gallery hours: Mondays noon to 3 pm; Wednesdays 2 to 4 pm; Thursdays 11 am to 3 pm; Fridays 11 am to 4 pm; Saturdays 8:30 am to 12:30 pm; or by appointment. Free to all!

The Harold Stevens Gallery is located inside WCUW, 910 Main Street, Worcester, MA. Parking in the Clark University lot across the street, or on the street.

Made possible in part through grants from Mass Cultural Council, Greater Worcester Community Foundation, and the Barr Foundation.

Film in the WCUW FrontRoom
Presented by Cinema Worcester

Thursday, October 22: Cinema Worcester at the FrontRoom Presents “Lost Highway”

Cinema Worcester in conjunction with the WCUW FrontRoom presents “Lost Highway”, a film by David Lynch.

Join us to celebrate Cinema Worcester’s 9th anniversary: trivia, prizes, special snacks and a screening of David Lynch’s amazing seventh feature film, one of the filmmaker’s most potent cinematic dreamscapes.

From this inventory of imagery, Lynch fashions two separate but intersecting stories, one about a jazz musician (Bill Pullman), tortured by the notion that his wife is having an affair, who suddenly finds himself accused of her murder

.

The other is a young mechanic (Balthazar Getty) drawn into a web of deceit by a temptress who is cheating on her gangster boyfriend.

These two tales are linked by the fact that the women in both are played by the same actress (Patricia Arquette).

Run time is 2 hours and 14 minutes. R (Bizarre, violent and sexual content | Strong language).

Showtime: Thursday, October 22, 6:30 pm.

Purchase tickets online: . $14.64 general admission, $12.51 senior/student with ID, $11.44 for WCUW members (processing fees included).

Tickets at the door: $12 general admission, $10 senior/student with ID, $9 for WCUW members.

The WCUW FrontRoom is located at 910 Main St., Worcester MA. Parking in the Clark University lot across the street, or on the street.
