Cinema Worcester in conjunction with the WCUW Frontroom presents “A Private Life”, a film by Rebecca Zlotowski.

When renowned psychiatrist Lilian Steiner learns of the death of one of her patients she is deeply troubled. Convinced that it was murder, she decides to investigate….

A 2025 black comedy mystery thriller film directed and co-written by Rebecca Zlotowski, starring Jodie Foster, alongside Daniel Auteuil, Virginie Efira, Mathieu Amalric, Vincent Lacoste, and Luana Bajrami.

“Zlotowski watched a couple of Hitchcock movies at some stage in the making of “A Private Life.” There’s a touch of “Spellbound” here, Hitchcock’s 1945 psychological thriller with Gregory Peck as a wounded soul healed by the love of a psychoanalyst played by Ingrid Bergman. Zlotowski similarly thickens her plot with romance, revelations of trauma and surrealistic visions, but with a light touch that becomes progressively playful. – Manohla Dargis. The New York Times

Friday, Feb. 6th at 12 Noon!

The musical collective Debutants makes bluegrass music for people who don’t consider themselves fans of bluegrass. Make no mistake, Debutants make true blue deep-from-the-country bluegrass that you could hear echoing through the Mountain Silverbells and Sugar Maples of the Smoky Mountains. But this seven-piece string band from The Fort (Fort Wayne, IN) adds their own mix of earworm melodies and pop hooks, bringing their songs down from the mountain and into the cityscapes. 

Debutants follow in the tradition of Béla Fleck, Andrew Bird, Nickel Creek, Punch Brothers, and Billy Strings, artists who take bluegrass and elevate it, open it, and make it more accessible. You may not like bluegrass, but you’re gonna love Debutants.

Evil Felipe, Fugue and Don’t Tell Iris come to the Frontroom, brought to you by Carrie!

Evil Felipe is an all-female group from Central MA, taking on a unique combination of indie, alternative, surf punk, and punk rock sounds. Boston Groupie News (BGN) praises them for its emotional depth, personal pain, and consistent mood, showcasing a mature, sweeping sound that avoids extremes but captivates listeners.

Don’t Tell Iris is a Boston-based indie band blending alt-rock with pop, known for storytelling lyrics from an early 20th-century female narrator in an asylum. Reviews highlight their unique concept, strong songwriting by Olive Martinez and Cody Von Lehmden, and a tight live sound with bass and drums, suggesting a compelling, imaginative, and musically rich experience.

Fugue is described as sharp, energetic, with synchronized complexity and creative flair. They are recognized for complex progressions, technical drumming and a blend of fast-paced and melodic sections.
