Cinema Worcester in conjunction with the WCUW Frontroom presents “Amelie (2001)”, a film by Jean-Pierre Jeunet.

We have an open forum on www.cinema-worcester.com for audience members to suggest films they want us to screen. Here’s the first selection from our SUGGEST-A-FILM series!

Amélie is a fanciful comedy about a young woman who discreetly orchestrates the lives of the people around her, creating a world exclusively of her own making.

Shot in over 80 Parisian locations, acclaimed director Jean-Pierre Jeunet

(Delicatessen; The City of Lost Children) invokes his incomparable visionary style to capture the exquisite charm and mystery of modern-day Paris through the eyes of a beautiful ingenue.

“Amelie is a delicious pastry of a movie, a lighthearted fantasy in which a winsome heroine overcomes a sad childhood and grows up to bring cheer to the needful and joy to herself. You see it, and later when you think about it, you smile.” – Roger Ebert

Run time is 2 hours. Rated R (Sexual content).

Showtime: Thursday, September 11, 7 pm.

Tickets $9.31 general admission (processing fees included). Purchase tickets online.

The WCUW Frontroom is located at 910 Main St., Worcester MA. Parking in the Clark University lot across the street, or on the street.

Saturday, September 13 and Sunday, September 14: Cinema Worcester at the Frontroom Presents “The Last Class”

Cinema Worcester presents “The Last Class”, a film by Elliot Kirschner.

American political economist, professor, author, and social media sensation Robert Reich worked under presidents Gerald Ford and Jimmy Carter. He served as Secretary of Labor in President Bill Clinton’s cabinet, and as a member of President Barack Obama’s economic transition advisory board. Reich is known for his work on economic inequality and as a champion of public education and American democracy.

The Last Class is a nuanced and deeply personal portrait of Reich as he reflects on a period of immense transformation, personally and globally. It is also a love letter to education.

The former Secretary of Labor might be famous for his public service, best-selling books, and viral social media posts, but he always considered teaching his true calling. Now, after over 40 years and an extraordinary 40,000 students, Reich is preparing for his last class.

Run time is 1 hour and 11 minutes. NR.

Showtimes: Saturday, September 13, 1 pm, and Sunday, September 14, 1 pm.

Tickets $13.58 general admission, $11.44 senior/student with ID, $10.38 for WCUW members (processing fees included). Purchase tickets online.

The WCUW Frontroom is located at 910 Main St., Worcester MA. Parking in the Clark University lot across the street, or on the street.
