A Message From Our Executive Director

The launch of this new monthly newsletter comes during a time of such great need. Businesses and individuals in our community are struggling due to the coronavirus pandemic. The number of jobseekers continues to rise as companies in the area are forced to lay off or furlough workers.

This is an extremely challenging time. But we at the Workforce Development Board of Contra Costa County believe we will bounce back. We’ll come back strong as a community, bolstered by the support of a network of workforce development agencies and organizations working together to help get businesses and jobseekers back on their feet.

Toward that end, today we launched #bouncebackcontracosta, a campaign to build awareness around the resources available to help employers and jobseekers during this time. We’ve revamped our website to make online training resources more convenient, including a dedicated landing page. We hope you’ll check it out and share the link with anyone in the community who you think will benefit.

We will continue to work diligently to provide the resources our county needs during this time. Our team is working remotely and continues to be available to assist you via email and phone.

Sincerely,
Donna Van Wert
Executive Director

WDBCCC Resources

Bouncebackcontracosta.org – Resources to Help You #BounceBack

At this point, the state has processed more than 3 million new unemployment claims, in the midst of COVID-19. Many are reassessing their situation and trying to figure out the next step. It’s a challenging time for so many, and we’re glad to be able to come together with our partners to provide resources through bouncebackcontracosta.org, a new portal to information and training to help Contra Costa county jobseekers and employers as they #bounceback.

This new one-stop landing page will lead you to WDBCCC’s online learning tools, including a three-video workshop series covering resume-writing and cover-letter writing – this is a must-see for those dusting off their resumes and trying to figure out how to get started. Our online offerings also include a video on how to effectively use the CalJOBS platform and an online orientation for Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act (WOIA) services.

Visit bouncebackcontracosta.org and share the link with friends, family and colleagues who you think could benefit from these resources.
