World Dairy Expo

Early Release has Two Options

There are two different early release options for 2025:

1.      Show Early Release: The Dairy Cattle Exhibitor Committee, at the March 2025 meeting, approved show early release for breeds that complete their entire show on Sunday and Monday of World Dairy Expo. This year this applies to Junior Holstein and Guernsey. Cows and/or heifers are eligible. There are no additional health or return destination requirements to meet with this option.

How to Apply: Exhibitor may select early release for these breeds with their animal entry, by check box.

Breed Show Early Release: Junior Holstein and Guernsey with Early Release may only depart grounds on Sunday and Monday, 6 p.m. to midnight.

2.      HPAI/Influenza A Test Requirement Early Release, Tuesday - Thursday: The same requirements as Expo 2024 apply. Rules are printed in the Premium Book, Page 11:

  • If your travel and exhibition time at World Dairy Expo meets one of these two requirements:

a) If your travel and exhibition time will exceed the USDA order which states that, “animals may travel to their home herd using the same negative test result [that they came in on], provided the exhibition, show or sale does not exceed 10 days of length and a new test would be required.

b) If your travel and exhibition time exceed your local state or provincial order of a shorter length of time (ex: 7 days) on the same negative test and a new test would be required.

  • If you have lactating dairy cattle (no heifer-only groups are eligible for early release)

  • Guernsey or Junior Holstein cattle remaining on site after Monday and wishing to early release Tuesday – Thursday must comply to return to the state/province of origin Influenza A test requirements.

  • If your non-lactating cattle are traveling with lactating cattle that would be outside of travel time granted by the USDA or state, they are eligible to leave upon approval.

  •  You must have at least one lactating animal that arrives on-grounds at World Dairy Expo, to be eligible.

  • Verification of your state destination testing and travel time is the burden of you, the dairy cattle exhibitor.

Application for Influenza A Early Release is a Google Survey link and is in the Exhibitor Dashboard: “6-Other Forms, HPAI/H5N1 Early Release Request”.

Confirmation: All exhibitors that apply for an early release option will receive an email confirmation of approval or denial from World Dairy Expo. Exhibitors must adhere to the clean-up requirements for early release, including, but not limited to: removal of signage, cage/fans, supplies, and feed & tack; trash and debris placed in trash containers, aisle swept and payments issued for any vet and feed bills.

Remember there is no late arrival this year. All cattle must be at WDE by Saturday, September 26, noon, Central Time. Please also consider breed show check-in times for the Sunday shows.
